BITCOIN IS LITERALLY ABOUT TO SMASH ALL TIME HIGHS YOU FUCKING RETARDS. WHY AREN'T YOU ALL IN? THE HALVING IS HAPPENING IN 10 MONTHS AND YOU ALL ARE SQUABBLING OVER SHITCOINS. BITCOIN IS GOING TO $100K-$250K EASILY THIS 4 YEAR CYCLE. AM I TAKING CRAZY PILLS?

Im undecided. The volume isn't great, low vol to dump, high vol to pump. Seemingly lower highs. That said no other coin has got anything going for it right now, I'd either be tethered or in btc, so I'll stick to btc because if it breaks 12k then woooooooo.

I am so goddamned sick of "muh halvening is guaranteed to make the price rise" meme.

Halvenings are the very definition of "priced-in."

In fact, nothing in the history of markets has EVER been as priced-in as BTC halvenings.

Wherever price goes from here, the halving has zero to do with it, because the halvening is information that is fully known.

Every miner knows this, every whale knows this, every /biz/let knows, every redditor knows, every feral bum on the street corner knows. Nobody is going to front-run anybody else on that information, because nobody is in a position to.

why does it matter that everyone knows? this is clearly not the case btw there are clearly a great many clueless people coming into the space still. the fact of the matter is the sell pressure from miners is getting cut in half. new bitcoin objectively becomes more scarce at the halving.

it only matters when the demand starts to put pressure on supply. That’s why it matters and it’s not priced in. Demand is growing and in 10 months the amount of Bitcoin released to the public will be cut in half suddenly, and I’m willing to bet at least 50% of people with BTC don’t even understand this

>> No.14587177

>>14585956
It matters because the vast majority of market participants are making their decisions about whether to buy or sell, trade, go long, go short, whatever, and at what price, with full knowledge that the halvening is coming (ie, that the speed of new supply of BTC is going to decrease). Everyone is already transacting with everyone else with that knowledge fully-incorporated into both sides of the transaction. Do I really have to spell this out? For information to move price, it has to be **NEW** information. It's the UNEXPECTED events that happen between now and then, and changes in sentiment, that are going to be what move price, not the halvening.

Just think about it for 5 minutes! If BTC were "guaranteed" to rise significantly in value in the next year due to the halvening, then why wouldn't every person and institution in the world be pouring every possible dime into it, and why would anybody ever sell until after realizing their "guaranteed" gains? People like double-digit returns with zero risk!

The only way the halvening (which again is just a lowering of the speed at which new supply enters the market) guarantees a higher BTC price a year from now is if you could somehow guarantee that DEMAND would be the same or higher a year from now. But if a drop in demand EXCEEDS the drop in new supply, then guess what?? Prices will go down!

Information that is already known to most or all of a speculative market is not included in price movement, by fucking definition! It boggles my mind that so many crypto "investors" don't understand this Level 1 concept.

>>14586047
>>14586057
How does the point that I'm making suggest in any way that I'm bearish or "coping"? I'm saying that the halvening is priced-in. It's a neutral statement with regard to price (which is my entire fucking POINT). The market could go up or down from here, but whichever way it goes, the halvening is not going to be the deciding factor.

>> No.14587245

>>14587177
you're assuming demand grows stagnant. the halvening ensures the currency grows more scarce as time moves forward and new market entrants come in, they are competing to buy smaller and smaller amounts. btc rewards market entrants who enter earlier

For this very reason I think you are overestimating the understanding of crypto many new investors have. We'll also probably have loads of newcomers that will enter the market around the halvening because of FOMO. So, to an effect, the halvening may not be priced in.
