So I keep stats on my trades and I have managed to do something that is almost unbelievable. If you did the opposite of every trade I made over the past 100 trades with heavy size you would be absurdly rich. My approach to the market is perfectly wrong. Whatever I see in the price action or the charts is wrong. I am more wrong than any guru or well known trader on the face of this Earth is right. I'm occasionally right, but way more often and with way more potential magnitude (if I didn't stop out) I'm wrong. I look at my spreadsheet and if you were taking the opposite of the trades I was taking, you would be practically supernatural. Is it possible to design a system that trades against yourself? I have legitimately considered swapping my hotkeys to trick myself into selling when I think I should be buying and vice versa.

/smg/, quick question:

How are prices actually determined relative to volume? Lets say there is someone holding 10 shares of stock A, a stock that has 100 total shares outstanding, that wont sell their stock for anything under $20. Everyone else who owns stock A is holding and not naming their price. The price of that asset is entirely determined by the one guy trading and all the other people outside looking to buy in, right? Basic supply and demand. So if those 10 stock A shares were sold to someone who turned around and did something stupid, like offer to sell his 10 shares for $5, or if the original guy just says fuck it and sells at a loss, does that really result in a crash?Or is it possible that there is some sort of volume weighting to price action? Because if there isnt, wouldnt that mean all stocks with low volume are vulnerable to severe price manipulation despite how many shares outstanding there might be available?

Why doesn't /smg/ just coordinate buys of a penny stock that's being heavily by an institution and then all agree to hold to $1000 or something ridiculous (possibly via smart contract)? Through meme magic, everyone could make it in about a month by forcing an institution to experience a type of short squeeze that has never been seen before.
I'm guessing it's probably illegal to coordinate something like this, right? Hence why it's not happening?

I think this is nicely representative of the whole without spamming you with data. Crossed out rows are wins, so they can be ignored for the most part. Left column is how profitable in cents the trade was from my entry. Right column is how much the trade continued to move from my entry after I stopped out. Taking the opposite would mean that the left column is how much your trade would run against you before, in the right column, how much it would run in your favor. So the first row the trade went $.01 in my favor before running $.76 against me. I of course stopped out way before that $.76 run, but the important point is if I would have done the opposite, I would have participated in that $.76 run with literally a penny of pain against the trade. Second trade under that, literally $0.00 against the trade before it ran $.50 in the other direction. They aren't all miraculous like those, but the crazy thing is, a lot of them are.

It's not gambling, don't listen to that retard. Nobody can generate a stable income from gambling, now it's true that trading CAN be gambling but that depends on the person trading. If he just randomly enters a market without looking into it at all, then obviously it's gambling... but if you check the stats of a company to make sure they are actually a good/legit business, look at the TA, check the charts for good levels to enter, etc etc.. then it's clearly not gambling.
If you're serious about learning trading and stuff then I wouldn't ask around here, there's too many mongoloids and shitposters.

If you don't want to spend money on courses (since the good ones can cost a lot), then check out youtube channels like tradingwithrayner. BUT before you do anything, try and decide what kind of trader you want to be since that will save you a lot of time and money.

how can you tell if the courses are actually legit? if this is something I want to do long term then I feel like it'd be worth looking into.
I asked because 4chan is one of the few places where there is unfiltered opinions (which is important) and yes there's a lot of shit/shills floating around but I've been on here (4chan, not /biz/ specifically) for a while so I can sift through it pretty easily.

Right right, but they created Nuvangelion and have committed to ruining Cowboy Bebop, so that’s VERY bullish.

Honestly though they’ve got the model for streaming everyone is going to have to imitate. For a long time, Disney and Apple and AT&T could be just trying to catch up to the convenience, binge-viewing, and algorythmic predictions that make netflix a success.

I’m still long Disney, and wish I wouldn’t have reduced my position.

I learned basic shit from youtube/reading and THEN decided to take a course to further my knowledge when I knew I actually liked trading and it's something I want to do rather than working a regular job.
I had to sign an NDA when taking up the course because the guy teaching gave out tips he learned at JP that gave him an edge in trading and those tips helped a lot.

But again, I would recommend that you actually start slow with what kind of trader you want to be. Swing trader? Momentum Trader? Scalper? Technical Trader? >>14836323 ? Figure that out first and it will help you a lot, not knowing what kind of trader you want to be can hurt you.

Yes buying things on the DOW that dip is good for but as you can see its not dipped, and MCD is not in any sort of range. Theres no way to predict or trade it right now.

JACK is even separated from the restaurant industry because its nearly a pure buyback stock. Notice the common shares outstanding being reduced by a point value of 35 to 25 since 2015, which is a pretty large amount, and set to reach 22 by 2019 end. This substantially increases the probability that the range will hold. In the short term this will give more percentage points than mcd

This... actually makes a lot of sense to me. But due to my recent losses I am getting more risk averse. Hence my regret for selling amazing blue chips like MCD.

Limit buys keep hitting, but I'm getting the sense that the risk:return ratio of the market is getting dangerous when we're at these all time highs with FUD everywhere yet a neutral market sentiment, and rate cuts priced in. Rate cuts could even be sell the news events? And global trade problems keep adding up like Turkey and now with Japan/Korea.

Fuck knows. Keeping a company private has its benefits in its lack of shareholder duty. This allows the guy to do some very wild and risky things with his company if he so chooses that would get you thrown out in a public company.

Is there a type of "stock" that basically may entitle you to future dividends but otherwise has no voting power? Would be interesting but practically worthless.

Today I tried for the first time in a long while and I made money.

oh, so that way the shareholders don't disturb the company's decisions? i guess it is better that way, since a company like spacex probably has to do very wild shit

This is why a lot of recent tech IPO's have had Class A and Class B share structures. Want to let in outside investors while limiting outside influence.

Volatile I think. I'm not confident on a direction.

This, but also look at the hell of a time Musky is having with Tesla being public. There's SEC investigations because he feels he has to deliver to the shareholders, but he's too neurotic to admit when things aren't going great so he exaggerates and lies. I don't think SpaceX will ever go public because they have private investors lining up around the block to hop in whenever they need cash - and they're profitable, which is really impressive for a young company with that much engineering and ambition. Of course they're profitable off of our money, and we all know how the government loves to waste so there's that to keep in mind. The government might have also told them not to go public. Imagine the military is giving them billions of dollars from their black budget every year to work on space weapons that we've signed a treaty saying we won't develop? It's not that far fetched, and part of their agreement would probably include a NDA that would prohibit the kind of disclosures a public company requires. With Ratheon and other companies this isn't that big of a deal, because they have multiple government agencies with big purchases so things can kind of blend in. With SpaceX it's supposed to be only NASA as far as I know, and we know what NASA gives them.

yeah. i always suspected that SpaceX would have a relation with the US military. even if false, it does make sense that SpaceX shouldn't go public. be it because of investors' disturbances or because of darker shit like secret contracts and stuff like that. i'm almost sure the US government has a lot of stuff going on with SpaceX.

That's how I like to do entries on new positions. Buy in support territory and stop loss right below. I really hate bagholding straight away on a fresh position so I do this instead.
