For me, it doesn't make much sense. A single 1/10 Oz (the absolute cheapest) is going for about $166.83. A roll (50 coins or 5 Oz.) is about $8,565.41
So, the current bid on gold is $1425.86 per Oz.
>5 oz * 1425.86 is $7129.30
Over a $1,300 PREMIUM!!!
Is stacking gold for High IQ people?
Redpill me before the Dollar goes to shit.

>> No.14892088

Congrats. You realized it’s a scam by PM sites to offload their bags at a premium. Same with silver too. Then they turn around and buy more at a discount to offload on retarded doomsdayer boomers.

newbie questions.. but here is cliff notes:
>eagles have a $ value attached which winds up in premium
>eagles also have a premium because they are worldwide recognizable and thus no "assay" bullshit when trying to trade
>eagles are non reportable to irs, another premium
>yes, you get some of the premium back on trades
>lower denoms have higher premiums because in future trading situation do you want to buy a loaf of bread and sandwhich meat with a 1oz coin or a 1/10 oz coin?

>> No.14892099

I bite low quality bait:
Why would you buy 50x 1/10th's you dyngus, buy 5x 1oz and you won't have that extreme premium.
If you want to buy gold, buy gold. If you don't want to, don't. If you want to take a red pill you need to find it yourself.

Don’t go all in on PMs. Risk reward is garbage. That being said if you don’t have a physical stack that you are building up for yourself and your family and your children, should something happen, you are a moron.

So in a currency collapse scenario you are going to trade your 1oz piece for a basket of groceries? what are they going to pay you in change?

You only buy physical gold if you think every single bank is going to melt down and the government will fuck everything up. Basically a Venezuela situation. I personally don't believe the majority of western governments are stupid enough to let it get that far....yet.
It's much easier to buy gold ETF's. GLD or IAU. You can buy this on any stock exchange. Its price follows the gold price. If you want to get into gold miners buy RING. When it comes time to sell gold you don't have to worry about hauling it in to a dealer, getting his really low buy price, or risk having him tell you you have chinese counterfeit gold eagle.

For that scenario you want silver, not gold. If you wanted to use gold for that you should get gold grain so you can measure out 1/10th of 1 gram, 1/10 oz would still be way too much to buy groceries with...

To add on to OP's question:

The mining company, the refiner, the mint, and the dealer all need to make money otherwise there would be no products to buy

Think of WOrld of warcraft. 100 silver turns into 1 gold.

nope, i'm not exactly sure what their justification is either...i can only assume its because eagles were once actual "USD" prior to USA going bankrupt in 1933....thus there is some legal classification to eagles
