They all took a MAJOR hit last week, when RGR had bad ER. AOBC also seemed to plummet off of tariff news, so I’m not sure what’s going on.

I somehow managed to set a limit buy correctly and bought AOBC damn near the 52-week low on June 3. Last week, went from having 17.5% profits to 12.5%. Too bad I didn’t buy more when the limit buy hit, I was too FUDded. 17.5% of $8.25 isn’t much.

I read that dividends are taxed at a lower rate than interest on savings too. This is all seeming pretty based. What are you buying? I've got twelve stocks in KO and a few in SPY that are paying dividends.

>> No.15100894

>>15100814
Yeah the longer you hold the less the tax man bites you on the ass when the time comes. You still pay tax on Divvys, still counts as income even though your reinvested them but it still is less of an bite than if you sold.

I'm in a mix of things. Growth (short term profit) and Long term holdings (divvys). Split pretty much 50/50. KDP/DIS/T/CTL/KHC/Comcast/ an S&P 500 fund are my main Divvy stocks.

>> No.15100990

umm... if you're concerned about investing for the long term, and are worried about taxes, you should be putting up to $6000 into a Roth IRA every year. You don't need to buy stocks with it immediately, but when you do, make sure to use a DRiP, to get compounding growth over your entire life, and then withdraw when you retire.

That means though that you can't really touch that money for many years, without paying fees, so is only a good idea if you're not going to need that $6000 for a long time. (I believe you can withdraw each year's initial investment after something like 5 years, thought it's better if you don't have to do that because the idea is to build you a comfy, tax-advantaged payout in your retirement)

>>15100894

Where we go from here is a tough call, at least for a brainlet like me. One one hand, we have a Fed chair that isn't really invoking confidence, an ongoing trade war, decent but not stellar earnings, and signs of economic slowdown. On the other hand, consumer confidence is pretty high, credit markets aren't showing signs of weakness, other key econ data isn't really pointing to a recession, and no inversion of the 10-2 (yet). I have a hard time of seeing a breakout to the upside if the market doesn't come out swinging with conviction Monday - Wednesday.

Those are candlesticks. I typically measure from real bodies, not wicks. I think the important thing is to be consistent (body to body, or wick to wick). And you're correct - this is in no way meant to be predictive. If you look at the volumes on the SPY though, the run up from the dip in May was relatively low compared with the 30th of July - the 2nd of August. Just make me think, perhaps, bulls are lacking conviction. Gold is up and BTC also went up about 1k, so this signals to me people are at least hedging more vigorously against more possible bad news.

My work place sucks anymore for new hires. Everyone gets dumped into a 401k but they don't get any say so as to what funds they want. All get a Target fund based on the retirement date. A separate pension is gone. Soon they'll jack the min retirement age to age 65 if the current Gov gets reelected/gets his way. So any benefit to working for the state will be gone. Why bother? The retirement package v.s the private sector will be the same regardless with the private sector paying you more to boot.

I used to be able to screw the govt outta paying sales tax via the online shopping. Long as the company didn't have a physical location in the state no paying sales tax. So buying shit on newegg - no tax. Buying shit on amazon - Tax.

Which if your buying $800+ worth of whatever the tax bite would be $50 something (KY rate is 6%). Then the shipping cost. Wound up saving a bundle by not paying the tax.

But the good times came to an end. They (legislators) closed that loophole. Now it don't mater, your fucked even if the company don't have a physical store. Bad times man. I had to pay $53 in tax on my server drives. That's even after I saved a few bucks by buying on e-bay

You should only let your kids consume pornography in a safe, supervised manner. It’s like giving them a glass of wine with dinner now and again so they don’t get fucked up when they’re exposed to it down the line. You should curate a selection of pornography you know is safe (possibly even homemade with your wife since you control the content), and carefully supervise them when they view it. Haven’t you seen A Serbian Film (2010)?

They've no problem with that. They've no problem with letting people go outta state to gamble. Gov stated his reason for not allowing gambling in was due to the high suicide rate due to people getting deep in debt, etc. But like I said horse racing, hey no problem. Lotto, hey no problem.

The most useful information Robinhood gives is numbers of normalnigger investors in a stock. If the number of investors on Robinhood goes x10 on a stock in less than a week that's a pretty strong sell signal

Case in point, NBEV. When the pump started, there was >1000 people in the stock. Pic related, 6 thousand. By the end of the second day, over 60k. When zoomer investors start pouring into a stock, you need to get the fuck out.

It's unironically partially probably violent video games. Everyone laughed at boomer retards when they said doom did columbine, but what people didn't realize is they were correct it's just that their reasoning and presentation was flawed. It's not a knee-jerk response of "waaahhhh billy killed a computer man on the screen, he's gonna want to kill real people now", it's a complex process of legitimization of response to adversity. Hell I'd say even stuff like Mario contributes, vidya presents a goal and asks the player to find a solution, with violence being a legitimate one. When a white nationalist/Islamist sees a problem (marginalization and outmoding of their racial group and traditions) they look for a solution. They've grown up on media where violence is a legitimized solution to problems. It goes without saying that hollywood movies and netflix are 10x worse though, total madness. Multiply that by prescription drugs which blunt emotional response and alter personality and you get this.
The only solution is spiritual literature and niceposting

It’s why you’ll never see me telling people to buy LPTX, but I have no problem recommending Merck, JNJ, MO, and other companies that won’t absolutely get fucked if they fail a trial, get hit with legal troubles, or we get a total stock market crash. People still gonna be smoking Marlboros even If half the US is on fire.

>>15105128
Haven’t you already admitted to trying to get idiots to buy the top so it can pump higher? Or was that another anon?

I really didn’t think we had such scummy posters here.

I don’t like preaching the company because it’s a battleground stock for short sellers and people trying to catch the dead cat bounce once it becomes over-sold. I also don’t like the lying that goes on in these threads about the legal problems facing the company.

I don’t like deception, especially if you’re just trying to get people to hand you their money.

To your other point, violence IS one option for resolving conflict, and teaching people to look for solutions is a good thing. So is teaching them to slay dragons and rescue virgins, which is basically the original Mario story.

A bigger problem is how distant our lives are from death. How we don’t realize that we kill to survive, just because it takes place in a slaughterhouse, or on a fishing boat, or at a grain processing facility.

No I've never shilled LCI in my life, just posted my entries and exits. You're thinking of LCIguy kekkies. I entered LCI under 5, sold half at 8.50 back in may, re-entered multiple times averaging to 5.50 all while selling covered calls, and ended up selling everything at 7.80. LCI is not a normal stock, it's a PVP zone for traders. You just have to know where to keep your average and sell whenever you get a decent profit.
Also of course violence is a legitimate way to solve problems, and always has been. The world is less violent now than almost all of recorded history (though interestingly, MORE violent than 5 years ago, Steven Pinker BTFO) What I'm saying is that we now have a generation on our hands that has a pathological relationship with media and it's values, which are much much different than those of traditional societies where violence would be employed in a time of great need and with gravest seriousness. There's a disconnect in the mind of these mass killers involving their threat response; despite not being immanently personally threatened by negative social pressures, they believe they are and act as if they're fighting in self defense. The portrayal of casual application of violence in the media feeds this disconnect, conditioning them to rationalize violence as logical even when they aren't in immediate danger.
I'm not anti-gun or liberal either, I stay strapped up when I go out at night or to a public event. I'm basically trying to say that while the world might be a safe place, the average person is a hell of a lot crazier than 100 or 1000 years ago and this creates people capable of anything.

The inclusion of XI-Lust and the XI° funny business with the OTO/AA/Golden Dawn really makes it for me. As wild as it sounds to ascribe personality or agency to inanimate objects, I sincerely believe it to have a personality unlike any other deck. I more mean I don't drink with my friends (only one of them drinks, they're trad right wingers) or casually/out and about, I've drank thrice in 2019 so I guess that's not really never. I think I've talked about this before but I was a relatively severe alcoholic from the time I was 19-22, at my worst year I was killing either a 24 case of PBRs or a liter of evan williams a night. The only time I dance is at metal/hip-hop shows, and they don't let you bring a CC in there lol (though I did once accidentally sneak a knife into a death grips show once). I only go to those a few times a year so I didn't bother making the exception. I only do psychedelics occasionally now too, I'm pretty boring substance wise for the last year+, just kratom or poppyseed tea when I want a little something something, phenibut sometimes to get in the zone, a shitload of caffeine and nicotine every day.

Vegas is even more wild, fucking nuts that he had not only 24 guns, but 24 Daniel Defense ARs (very high end, used by real spec ops guys) most of which lacked optics or sights. You know, Las Vegas was a botched assassination plot by saudi insurrectionists who didn't like the legitimate heir to the throne. The CIA used paddock to run guns to the assassins so they could bag them but they messed up the VIP extract, paddock got comped, and the assassins panicked and fired into the crowd below to draw attention away from their hasty escape.

There have to be better ways to off a high ranking saudi, preferably not in one of the most surveilled cities in the world. Anybody suggesting specific equities is selling you something because if they are telling you they can predict that shit that far out they're full of shit. If you've got some risk tolerance and you feel the FED will continue to cut rates, you can grab a long term bond fund and probably get way better returns than 3. You could lock down like $5k into the CD and then go into something more aggressive with the remaining 3, split it like 1k long term bond fund, 1k gold, 1k covered call fund. Then you got some room for larger returns and if you're not liking what you're seeing from Jerome just pull out or reallocate. You'll still get that CD back. To be honest with you though, the bond fund I look at TLT just went parabolic, gold is way up, people are thinking equities are going to continue to tank... I'm looking to get a short term bearish position on TLT soon like within the next 2 weeks or so. I wouldn't be locking down a long term position in anything right now there's so much uncertainty, and I'm not sure if market sentiment has fully digested all of the news from last week. Your indexes could trade sideways like we saw last fall or just flat out tank... That's why I'd think a covered call fund might be better since it has some protection to the down side, but you're still going long in sideways or bear market.... There's always the off chance some kind of deal is struck with China within the next six months and then this market will lose its breaks and take the fuck off.

people go against the grain.. their hatred for someone makes them blind to whats really going on and they then make irrational decisions because they are emotional people.. they follow a herd.. (sheep).. this is a good thing for strong LCI longs..

When bashers can no longer bash the company they try to bash the management.. when they can no longer bash the management they then bash the holders... they run out of material and this cycle becomes more and more predictable... LCI is such a no brainer for a long term investment.

I have never had a problem day trading in my IRA.

It took a little while for the funds to appear in my rollover and Roth IRA, but once they're there, I just do what I want no problemo.

I don't know why, but the 401K match % went into a regular 401K, even though I was investing my own contributions into a Roth 401k. So now I have a Roth 401K and a rollover 401K, and it's a bit annoying.

I don't carry a gun at all, and the worst thing I've done while blacked out drunk was either throw a gamecube controller or motorboat some titties. Also, eat way too much candy.

kek. I don't really want to be associated with your newness, but it is strange to me that this poster refuses to admit he made a mistake, and that he would've done better to invest in a good company, not a speculative battleground for short sellers.

Like, shit. Maybe you're green now, after years of DCAing, timing dead-cat bounces, and selling covered options, but you could've done all that and made a shitton more money AND collected dividends by investing in a solid company with a bright future, or just buying the fucking index.

And you wouldn't have had to spend all that time shilling.

Well obviously, anon. Where do you think you are? Except fir the price manipulation. There isn't enough money in the /smg/ pool to do that in an effective way for any length of time.

You don't need that much money for manipulating a pump even higher than it would naturally go, people just have to buy when the rally fades.

Other cases are manipulating microcap stocks or stocks with very little float.

DIS posts earning this coming week - I hope since they've had a very nice run (to put it mildly) that they'll feel generous and gift stockholders with a nice 8:1 stock split. Or hell even a 4:1 or 2:1, I ain't greedy (much).

What? I can hope right.

>reducing share value to give the poors a chance to invest and sell options
Companies don't do shit like this anymore. I think they think it looks god to have a high share price, and maybe it discourages short term investors, since you generally want HODLers to buy your stocks, instead of people who just want to flip it or weak hands who sell at first sign of trouble.

It would be nice though. Then maybe we could get the poors to start investing too, so they could see the splendid gains of the stonk markit!

I'm honestly excited for Monday. I can't wait to see what happens. I'll be disappointed if it crabs. I want either a huge drop or huge gains. Either way I'm happy.

This is exactly why we're going to rally, FOMO is going to power us all the way to Mars.
