Isn't going to happen. I don't know what the enate will look like in 2021 but even a Dem majority one isn't going to have 60 votes for it.
Expect a hybrid system like Germany. Everyone will be enrolled in the basic public Medicare network, but you will be free to buy extra coverage if you or your employer wishes. Expect private insurers to start covering IVF, elective cosmetic surgery, etc.

Can you guys help me with understanding 3 things?

1) I have a TD Ameritrade account, apparently free trades go into effect fucking TOMORROW. I thought this was how they made money. How the fuck does AMTD make money if there's literally no fee?
2) How does this effect HFT's?
3) Are there more costs associated with shorting a stock compared to going long? I've been trying to figure this out for awhile, currently long in SGMO while doing day trading in my paper account. I haven't seen any extra costs besides the 6.95 atm for shorting just like going long, but I guess there is some margin account fee associated with shorting a stock? Obviously I'm talking about ETB here, and I'm also talking about day trading, what sort of cost am I looking at here? I'm just trying to figure out the actual cost of breaking even right now for shorting for day trades, so I can factor it into my risk and profits.

3rd one is the main one I'm interested in. I really don't understand the costs associated with shorting during day trades or maybe round trip trades. I really want to know how much I have to make to at least break even for those. Worst case scenario, I'll only go long, but holy shit there have been a lot of good short opportunities lately (only been using my paper account for less than a month and already up 15% trading only 20-30k at a time, shorting GM and RAD have been big for me while I practice waiting for ASH for SGMO).

they haven't said yet but I think it's reasonable to assume that they and the other brokerages moving to no-fee will utilize some variation of the Robinhood model. If it's not that it'll be something else. Brokers are not just going to waive fees without a plan to generate revenue in some other way.

idk if this helps at all or how smart you are, but i went to a community college, got my associates in engineering, and became an engineering technician. learn how to solder and EZ 40-50k/year, works for me. I'm actually planning on quitting the workforce in probably a year or so once I have enough data to prove my day trading system works and can do it full time. Just make $200/day, around $1000/week and you're making $50k/year day trading, good enough for me. more than that is just gravy imho, but I've put my heart and soul into researching and practicing this stuff, I basically eat sleep work and study TA at this point in my life since July.

Great, thank me later. Entire channel is a fucking goldmine, pay special attention to all of his videos related to his "algorithm". He doesn't tell you what he actually uses, he just gives you shit-tier examples (implying that you can find better) of each part of his system. All free. Again, I trade stocks and that channel changed my fucking life. All the better to have your ears perk up whenever he mentions an indicator "that was made for trading stocks, not forex", because I trade stocks lmao. I still don't use RSI though but I've been fiddling around with the MACD, I'd like SOME kind of momentum indicator at least. Awesome Oscillator is interesting too (made by the fractal trading guy, interesting watch if you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNxt298VVOw ) but I'm not entirely sure how well I can use it for day trading yet, the MACD seems to give better signals so far but idk if I should change the parameters from the default (the nice thing about the default is that it can become a self fulfilling prophecy if everyone else is trading based off of it too)

Look more deeply into certain indicators, he mentions this too but I'll give you a hint and say the Aroon Indicator is fucking amazing. Actually look up what the Aroon is telling you though, the actual information it is conveying instead of just lines. 2 lines crossing is not enough. Put together a brand new strategy this week and backtested several years on a variety of charts and the whole shebang. Looks good enough. Will keep me in rising trends without selling too early, and tell me to get out quickly when trade is likely to fail. Strategy says I shouldn't be in any of the trades I currently hold. So that's fun. Will adjust when fortuitous or when emergency selling is required.

And even there it's not guaranteed you'll make money if the S&P starts crabbing like it did between 65 and 82. The idea is that if you buy regularly, even through a recession, you'll make money eventually over the long term, that's what the historical data shows.
