How much would you pay for a masters degree in engineering?

I'm debating between a state university for a MS in EE for ~25K verses a well known private university for 40k.

The private university has a few additional courses I want, maybe has a better program IDK.

Nothing. Buy the books and read them if your projects require the knowledge.

Engineering doesn't work like that, it's not like software where anyone and their dog can get into a position. It's very structured when it comes to qualifications and the positions you're allowed to enter based upon them.

Corporations don't work like that*

If you need it for a job then pick the better school. I just chose a private university over cheap public school to finish my ME/AE bachelors. I only plan to work for someone else until I can get my PE though, which is why I consider a masters to be useless. My mind may change in the future though.

What kind of engineering?
Engineering masters degrees are very specialized.
