Is becoming a pilot worth it?

>> No.16583315

Yes. Great pay, a highly respected profession, mad pussy.

>Yes. Great pay, a highly respected profession, mad pussy.

...eventually...maybe...if you're lucky and the big leagues want to hire you. Otherwise, it's a shit career.

Im not a commercial pilot, but I got my private cert..
Its not worth it, imho.
My favorite part was landing, getting some place is just as boring as driving.
With modern planes, you basically become a glorified knob twister. The planes technically dont even need you anymore.
Its probably glorious at first, but eventually id feel like a high altitude bus driver.

I've been working a retail job for a year now, I don't mind the boring factor but having 4x the pay without having to slave for a degree would be pretty great.

Any advice?

Yes, even if you have to inevitably come back to the ground, at least for a moment you will be free.

No its ripe for automation, unsocial working hours, massive competition and will leave you massively in debt if you don't make it or are fired. If you fly for a job it will take all the fun out of it.

Don’t listen to these retards. The airlines don’t have enough pilots and employment is almost guaranteed if you get your license through one of the airline schools. However, DO NOT JOIN THE MILITARY, YOU WILL GET BUTTFUCKED, PAID SHIT FOR 12 YEARS AND YOUR LIFE WILL BE HE GOVERNMENT’S. Honestly tho, it’s a great career path atm, and no consumers will trust automation within the next few decades for it to fully take over the aviation business while we are alive.

I would like to get a private licence when I retire. Also hoping that small electric planes are viable in a decade or two.

>> No.16586249

Space companies won't be hiring astronauts to fly their rockets. They will be hiring the best pilots.

Lots of radiation when you fly a plane
