I think we are getting near a tipping point. What could the catalyst be?

The catalyst would be some god damn brappers in this thread but probably the dvpn and getting rid of Uphold.

There won't be a 'tipping point'. Brave/BAT have actual users and actual up and to the right adoption.
The good news is that means it's a solid long term hodl, all the more so in a crowded field of non-adopted bullshit.
The bad news is that means it will always be priced based on user count and adoption, which will only ever rise slowly but steadily, meaning price will do the same.

Well the price is pretty much bottomed out right now. It could be a slow but huge gainer. Much rather have some sense of safety and big gains vs a roulette spin on an altcoin scam. If BAT is worth $28 in the next 3-4 years it could be considered the best possible crypto investment of this decade once you look at the risk/reward aspect. Everything else is either topped out or has zero liquidity.

crypto works in mysterious ways. By all statistics, sentiment and reason, BAT's market cap should be way above where it is now. But 100 wallets own 70%+ of the total supply, so here we are

>> No.16953605

>>16953538
I think the reason is more to do with the fact nobody that owns cryptocurrency likes BAT and this is an entirely speculative market. If cryptocurrency holders saw a tweet from trump saying that brave is the next google it would be a different story. The big play now is to just wait for brave to slowly grow into a behemoth that is entirely separate from the rest of the crypto market.

>>16953605
this is actually a good thing. everybody hates it which means not a lot of people have bags. we need these people not to have it now so we can dump it on them later. if everybody loved it and all of braves features were already released and its success was obvious to the masses, it would already be too late because all of that would be priced in. bat is a good opportunity to capitalize on peoples mispriced perceptions

definitely true. That being said, although normies are being brought onboard with Brave, they still 1) do not give a fuck about/are extremely skeptical of cryptocurrency and 2) are not turning on Brave Rewards at a rate that makes an impact on BAT.

I think Brave overestimated how many people would be using Brave Rewards and now they're scrambling to figure out how to remedy that. I also think Brave is making steps to figure out how to potentially leave BAT behind if they need to pivot.

Yeah I always seem to overlook this. Money is made by noticing gaps in marketplaces. If everyone knew about brave/bat and its price remained the same it would be problematic. 12m users isnt really a wake up call yet either. 25m might not be a wakeup call either. When it starts cracking 50m and stealing marketshare and has tons of news segments people will start to notice, and the real fomo will begin. The market meme chart is a pretty good example of where we are at now.

amount of users actually doesn't hold much relevance to how many people are holding bags. look at AAPL for example. at the bottom of the crash in 2009 its split-adjusted price was about $11. i bought an iphone 3GS in like 2009 or 2010 around the time it came out. how many fucking people bought iphones and had ipods and shit, and yet nobody touched the stock. this should have been a general hold for just about everybody on the fucking planet and yet they all just somehow missed it while it did a 30x and still nobody knows what the fuck happened.

anyways, something with an exponentially growing userbase that has good fundamentals and nobody is looking at is just about the best thing you can find to put your money in. this shitcoin will do 100x right under the noses of 50m people that will be using the browser and theyll still be oblivious to what the fuck happened just like always

Very good point. We are looking at it from an investment perspective while everyone else is looking at it from some coin maximalism perspective or normie perspective. Im just here to make money. I dont care about cryptocurrencies, youtube demonitization, enhanced privacy, adblocking, or anything else that is a selling point for everyone else.

All I see is a rapidly growing company with a rock solid team, and an under priced asset that nobody cares about yet. Its right under everyones noses. When i invested in ethereum back around the DAO incident it was the exact same scenario. Deloitte was building applications on ethereum and enterprise adoption was happening. People still chose to buy dash, monero and zcash instead.

>>16954050
Yeah the 40% opt in rate dropped once mobile rewards were introduced. Its close to 14% across the board because mobile has such a large userbase. All brave has to do now is marginally grow the rewards opt in rate while continuing its path to growing the user base. This year will probably be about moving the pieces into place. Next year and the years following will be about wrapping the game up. Its a long term hold, but its looking really good.

the xrp team holds over 50% of the supply and they routinely dump $5m batches onto the market whenever they feel like it. its pretty hard to pump the price of something when the supply isnt cornered. its bagholder central too. lots of dumb money still in this thinking that big banks are going to swoop in and pay a premium for their shitcoins lol. as far as im concerned this last little "pump" is another bear flag and another lower high before taking a fat shit again.

>> No.16954286

>>16954234
right. AAPL is pushed higher by the same people/funds pumping money into it. eventually the dumb money aka normies wont be able to ignore the rising prices anymore and theyll fomo in and buy the top (at which point the supply is no longer controlled by few, hence it being the top)

kinda similar to bat, a few people have fat bags and the advertisers make purchases which pushes the price of the shitcoin higher and higher while the users remain blissfully unaware until they fomo in at the top

that's a really solid point about how these things happen. Literally everyone knew about apple back in 2009 2010. People were just consciously ignoring it for whatever reason. Looking back it seems like such an obvious investment.

BAT has all of that "obviousness" but just never seems to fucking move upward. It's a strange feeling.

>>16954095
Interesting perspective. I care very much about the project and its goals, maybe 50/50 with as much as I care about making money. I appreciate the pure "make me money" view for obvious reasons and I feel like BAT has been a total flop in that regard.

yeah it hasnt pumped yet but you have to take into account where the market is overall. we are at the bottom. look at the nasdaq to see where we are in comparison. the dotcom bubble and crypto bubble have been practically a mirror image of each other. from the crazy IPO's of internet stocks to the ICO frenzy of shitcoins. they may be different assets, but its the same driving force behind both of them. people. two separate generations of people, both doing the same stupid shit over again which you can see represented on the chart. history may not repeat itself but it sure as fuck rhymes.

most internet stocks that IPO'd during the bubble died. just as most shitcoins that ICO'd during the bubble will die or have already died. there were however a handful of stocks who's fundamentals were improving (growing adoption and userbase). just look at AMZN. while amazons fundamentals were improving, its stock price was taking a shit along with the rest of the market. BAT is about as good of a gamble as you can make in crypto and its a damn near perfect timing to make that bet

Recognition of high DAU DApps in the mainstream will also help - looking at Maker (if the general public can get a good understanding of it), Pool Together, Sylo, Bolt even.

That isn't how crypto works. That isn't how any of this works at all. BAT has a cap on the number of tokens like any other crypto. As they become adopted by more advertisers, paid out to both consoomers and producers, their effective value will increase. Assuming the platform is widely adopted, that increase will be linear until something better replaces it.
