In the 1983 movie "WarGames", one of the themes was that the only way to win some games is not to play.

If you think that Chinese Bat Death is just a hiccup, then trade away and good luck. But if you think this is going to crash the market, history has shown over and over again that there is only one proper move... go to CASH.

Back in 2008, there were some winners but mostly losers. People who lost included...
> put buyers who mis-estimated the best expiration dates
> people who bought the dip, not realizing that there was another 30% to fall
> people who but it would go up, but it went down
> people who bet it would go down but it went up
> people who bet that company X would collapse but it didn't
> people who bet that company Y was safe when it wasn't

But do you know who was in the best position of all... those who stayed in CASH the longest.

When the crash is done and stocks take a real upturn, there will be enough signals and enough time to get in and ride the next wave.

Those who still have cash when we hit bottom will have the best buying power. They will also be in a position to take advantages to discounts in real estate, cars, and other luxury items that people have to sell in a hurry.

So trade away, and I hope you make money, but don't catch a falling knife, and know when the best play is to keep your powder dry.

We knew how viruses worked in 1918, and we knew about vaccines. So that doesn't make any sense.

Can anyone explain why there's such a delay in Vanguard selling my index funds?

I sold at 1pm GMT on Monday, I was sitting on around 20% profit, which came to a little over £2500. Vanguard says "We'll sell at the next valuation point", which I assume would be close of market on the 24th? However, they appear to have done nothing until the 27th, which is my new valuation, and I've now dropped to just under £1600 gained and 12.95% rate of return.

This is true, but many of these companies (from a cursory glance at them), also had relatively large international exposure.

Yeah they obviously shut it down intentionally. I doubt our busted shitty exchanges even have the money to continue operating at such high volume.

Put in a sell order for 2/3s of my bond ETFs tomorrow. Been holding bond ETF 90% and REIT ETF 10% since January. Sold the REITs just before the peak.

Will cost average the proceeds into the S&P 500 over the coming weeks. Have been cost averaging my disposable income into the S&P since Wednesday. Might get some of a REIT ETF and SPYD too.

I fucked up and bought $4k of the UBS BDC index on Monday. Genna have to hold those bags for a little while.

Have $10k cash in a 401a plan which my employer will not let me trade.

See you boys on the other side of the recession.

I was being dramatic, sorry. You won’t lose your money, I just meant as a business the bank is fucking up big time on multiple levels. They pulled out all the stops to make earnings this time, they’re slashing positions left and right, all the mid to upper level personnel who make money are leaving. It’ll be bad in 2021 for sure.

That's exactly why it will rally 700 points tomorrow, it's the last thing everyone expects. Screencap this.

Can you shut the fuck up. Retards with no actual economic knowledge/education run the risk of having people listen to you and suffer financially from it.
The coronavirus is the initiator but it isn’t the cause of the correction we are seeing. We’re heading into a recession because retards like you with no economic background decided buying into corps with P/E of 30+ was a good idea.
You’re about to get fucked because you don’t understand the fundamentals.

vanguard states pretty clearly that they don't cater to traders. find an index etf and trade that instead of vanguards fund. then your trades should be executed immediately.

This is why i've been going hard on oil in recent days. Equities may be fucked but industry won't wait. Companies will want to make up for lost time. That means oil demand goes up up up.

Where am I wrong with anything I said in my previous statement? Where, retard? I even agree with you slightly, we were do for a correction. But where in the fuck are you seeing a recession? Where is the inflation numb nuts? Why won't the fed just be printing money.

>Oh consumer goods are gonna go up because chink flu lololololol
