I think this whole system is a sham, but it's really the only thing to do, politically speaking anyways, in this situation. The dollar is too strong. It's a safe-haven asset currently, so they need to devalue it. Other countries are fucking up their currencies, so the US really has to follow suit. Otherwise other assets get wrecked and so do exports. That would genuinely hurt a lot of people. We should go to some hard-asset backed currency, but that's not going to happen sorry. The only advice I can give is to put your savings in a hard asset. If you are young, this game will eventually end and you don't want to be holding dollars. There is currently massive demand for dollar cash, as US investors pull their money out of the stockmarket and people in emerging markets do the same and change their foreign denominated cash into greenbacks. So there is a strong dollar trend even with QE
