I'm taking masks next time I'm on a major flight, but I was already biased. Last time I flew they sat me next to an old asian guy with a persistent cough, and I was sick before I was done with all my connections.

They are hit hard. Reduced staffing. 70-80% flights reduction. Planes being grounded and shooting in and open spot. Only really cargo still going. Pick who you think will survive and go long.

Surgical masks prevent YOU from launching particulate matter INTO OTHER PEOPLE. They do not stop you from being affected by particulate matter; they're not a damn biohazard suit.

After a suspected case, they should be changing it., but with how maintenance and staffing are who the fuck knows. JetBlue had a suspected case here, but they didn't give an exact timeline for replacement and it was in service for 2 days.

It's a respiratory virus. If you're wearing a properly fitted mask it prevents you from breathing it in and infecting you immediately. If someone is coughing right on top of you it's a different matter, but you can still prevent infection by washing your skin and burning your clothes. But if someone's coughing in your vicinity, a good fitting mask will filter out 95% of the airborne particles
