it may not be less illegal on paper, but they may have no right to make you give it up regardless.
you can store all your cryptos by memorizing a 12-word seed sequence. and destroy all other ways to get it.
even if they can link those cryptos to you (e.g. you purchased them with coinbase with your passport and was dumb enough to never have moved again after withdrawing), you can just pledge the 5th and walk away.
