Its not fake. Its only fake if it has no value. And value is subject and inherently intrinsic. Just because (((You))) dont think the money has value doesn't mean the money doesn't hold value to other people. Why do you think the US Government holds cryptocurrency? Because people decided it has value. And now it does. Just like that.

well put
but you're forgetting that some monies don't last on a long enough time scale. I guess with btc, it's literally futureproof for the forseable future, at least before quantum computing is realized

ITS "VALUE"??? You mean what it's worth in USD? All you idiots do it wait for them to moon and then sell for real currency. You fuckers don't treat this like money, you treat it like stocks. It has no value. No one is using this shit in real life. Just trying to trade it to make real money.

Because they can't print it

Why do you work for $10 Goodboy bucks an hour while trillions of them are printed per day?

Just because you don't think that currency not backed by actual governments are worth anything doesn't mean the value disappears. It just means that the currency is decentralized, and not held back by the restrictions of bureuacracy and laws, and the people running the country. Its a business, that makes money by making money, and people invest time and effort into the money, and so the money has value, and some people want the value from tht money to buy things, which in that has value. Why do you think gold or silver or diamond or palladium has value. Value is a subjective term, and anything could be valuable. We value food, we value water, we value electricity and shelter, and we need all those things to survive, but if we want to make our lives better, how are we going to do that when there is no system of value that is subjective for us to earn our value in the form of labor in return by the person we are selling it to? The only way is to establish a currency, and while national currencies are held back by countless laws and restrictions, crypto can make you real money and hold real value without laws. Its money 2.0 really.

Why is Manhattan real estate worth anything? You can give reasons just like you can for bitcoin. But ultimately, the answer is because people say so. The market decides what something is worth, not you. Your feelings about bitcoin, Manhattan real estate, and anything else don't matter.
If for some reason people stopped wanting Manhattan RE then it would plummet it price, as the market decides what it's worth. You don't have to agree or understand; markets will continue to perform without you.
Let's say there's a highly contagious virus and severe economic collapse, for example, and New York bares the worst of them both. This very thing could happen if it gets bad enough.

I can actually name several

Microsoft accepts Bitcoin in the Xbox store
Overstock takes bitcoin
Expedia takes Bitcoin for flights
ScubaOtter takes Bitcoin for scuba gear
GhostBed accepts Bitcoin for their mattresses
And a lot of other places take Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies either directly or allow you to pay for gift cards with crypto and then spend it.

OP here, this is the only solid argument in the thread. I see what you mean, but gold and silver have a real world physicality that is precious because it is rare and actually exists. Where does crypto come in if the power goes out? It relies on the internet and communications infrastructure. If we ever lose that, crypto is worth shit. Then what?

>> No.18313953

>>18313912
Well, its not perfect yet, and that's okay. Everything relies on something. What happens when we run out of gold, or no one is willing to mine the gold, or work to be paid in gold. Its really a, "How much is everyone willing to agree that this is valuable?"

>> No.18313996

>>18313912
Besides, the chance of us ever losing internet connection and communications infrastructure in AMERICA is pretty unlikely.
