I have a question about trumpbux. I worked full time this year and I am not a student. I am also 20. I fucked up and accidentally marked yes to the questions “can someone claim you as a dependent” and “are you a student full time.” Will I still receive my trumpbux if they see nobody claimed me? This shit is confusing.

accounting graduate, here. who knows? i imagine they'd give more merit to a person flagging themself as a dependent than giving someone the benefit of the doubt that they mistakenly claimed themself a dependent. they aren't trying to give out free lunches, are they?

think it means someone can claim you but if no one does you're still good.

Someone who has access to the IRS website here.
You are not eligible for the Economic Impact Payment if "you can be claimed as a dependent on someone else's return." There is no mention of actually needing to be claimed on another person's return.
Additionally, as you have told the IRS that you are a student, neither your age or your income from working full time would automatically disqualify you from being a qualifying child, which is a type of dependent.
In short, the IRS has no way of knowing that you can't actually be claimed as a dependent and that likely means you are not eligible for the Economic Impact Payment.
. . . sorry

This. If you file an amended return you'll get your TrumpBux with your 2020 tax refund, so you'll still get it at most a year from now. TrumpBux are technically an advance payment of a 2020 tax credit, so everyone's accounts and eligibility will be settled up with next year's taxes.

Again, the solution is to file an amended return. And yes, someone being able to claim you and someone actually claiming you are two different things with different tax implications. It's dumb, but that's how it is.
