when are people gonna stop talking about the damn virus. they use that as an excuse. It's the 08 bubble, irresponsible businesses, and buybacks. The virus isn't shit when any sizable portion of businesses and people can't manage 3 fucking weeks without working. Don't take the news or narrative seriously. this was bound to happen and the virus is what they'll blame. we could open up shop tomorrow - let's assume it's literally just the flu and washington is in bed with hospitals to embezzel cash in every direction - and prices could still move down. we have a huge space below us, the virus isn't driving the drop.

Overall I've done better on the medium term modest risk kinda stocks over the past five years. Short term medium risk has a wider spread and sometimes lesser average gain over a period of years. The big wins are very exciting to get but the losses add up even if you're careful not to baghold these risky trades.

It's almost ironic that fat boy Kim J. is the best stabilizer as he seeks to find compromise with the west unlike his predecesors and possible heirs. Guess that's what a western education gives.

Sad but true. Cloudflare is literal cancer, it will keep spreading and apraising and there's nothing anyone can do to stop it in the foreseeable future. Corona strengthened cloudflare by shutting down the chance of a surprise startup growing and taking them out for the foreseeable future, and since they're effectively a utility company, they're never going down no matter what happens. Corona is also guaranteed to further increase its value.
BUT: its maximum upside is "merely" in the 10x range (over maybe a decade) and it is, in fact, overvalued this quarter (correct value should be $12 normally, and about $17 under corona conditions).

The fastest way right now is midstream oil and gas MLPs. The entire sector is way down due to coronachan and the oil price war and much closer to its true bottom than other sectors. I started buying mid March and got some ridiculous yields out of it. Prices have recovered some since then but there's still good value. SHLX is yielding 14% right now and has a safe distribution because RDS is basically its sugar daddy. There are even better yields out there but riskier. OKE was yielding over 20% a couple weeks ago.

I guess NoNonsenseForex on youtube. Yes he trades forex and yes his information is tailored specifically for it, but the general information on how to select TA tools and how to test to see if they are any good is worthwhile. And the stuff on risk management is universal. Youtube used to be really spotty on quality with a lot of channels devoted to trading just being ads for some jackass paid course. The forex guy was a breath of fresh air in that regard.

Tip for testing TA indicators and related doohickies: go on tradingview, pick any stock, bring up the full featured chart, click on "replay" button up at the top. This allows you to skip back to a previous date on the chart and hide everything that comes after. Hit play and it will reveal a new candle every second or however fast you set it. Very useful for testing strategies quickly.

SPX analysis: Fairly big picture edition. (I reedited the dates onto the bottom of the picture)
That big vertical line marks the beginning of April or more importantly fiscal quarter 2 for the year. Money managers that had to send out statements with devastating losses absolutely want to bounce back this quarter. So that level around 2440 is where every buyer more or less starts to show negative returns. More importantly is the long consolidation for about the next 3 weeks. Start breaking below around 2720 and 2650 and you've got a lot of new buyers starting to show losses. Of course there's lots of new bears in this consolidation and if we start moving higher in a hurry they'll be used for kindling.

Let me explain it to you in a very simple way.
Why do stocks go up? Because people buy.
Why do stocks go down? because people sell.
If you have a large position, do you dump it all at once? If you want to acquire a position in a company, do you buy it all at once? No, you do not want the price to move so you do it in a certain way. This creates patterns on charts. If you can recognize them, you can profit.

Oh, and almost every algo uses elliot wave fibb retracement as a baseline so you better learn it if you want the market to make sense.

That's completely fucking irrelevant though kek'd. If you're trading based on TA and the price action, you will buy at trend changes or major levels of support. So it doesn't matter if the market dumps 20%, depending on the trader you will wait for price to bounce and then buy at the re-test with a tight stop loss in hope of it holding. Earnings and guidance are overrated because it's basically just small moves in a short term forecast (unless something drastic and unexpected happens and only shows up in earnings but that's unlikely)

Like I know RTX's earnings will be shit for this quarter, because Pratt and Collins are basically deadweight right now, but that doesn't matter to my thesis that they're large future value centers.
