If you check my damn post, here's a quick lesson. You literally don't understand anything about this virus, even though you tout that it's the reason the market goes down and you're likely from /pol/ claiming it's a nothingburger. Here's a quick one, we have no real data outside of ICU admittance and deaths for this virus. There are too many false positives and negatives in our testing (up until now allegedly due to antibody tests - google these terms, you need to know them to navigate the reddit world of BELIEVE THE SCIENCE). The bottom line is that it's very likely that the United States would have had overwhelming deaths (per capita) and looked like Italy if we didn't shut down and stop all other deaths from showing up like normal. Again, the real reason for the drop is that we're bubbling credit and people were afraid that credit would stop flowing, just like 08. the false confidence we have is from people believing that powell will keep credit open (likely) and it will fix everything (unlikely).

I disagree, I think SPY is purely pulled up by a few big stocks (including amzn, msft, aapl, tsla) and as soon as they go down the entire SPY will go down. Moreover, amzn being down will have a knock-on effect due to algorithms which will speed up the race to the bottom. As for recovery, THAT will be slow and steady. If we get a sudden recovery impulse, it's fake and gay and probably means we're going to get a 3rd crash (this has all happened before historically -- while it's true that it typically takes a long time to reach the real bottom, it's usually not through a steady and long decline, but rather by a series of crabbings and flash movements in both directions).
