1. Yesterday was red, I only buy on red days
2. I've been meaning to branch out beyond oil, which even today is up 50-80% for me, so I looked at financial companies and a few blue chips that had favorable Price/Book ratios. I'm basically running an old fashioned Graham strategy and with yesterday's purchases just hit 31 stocks in my basket, so I feel pretty well diversified. I'm expecting 20% gains year over year with favorable taxes.

Mainly diversification, they're fairly typical of banks as far as I can tell although I agree, COF GS and PRU are my favorites.

I like MGM's P/B, mainly, and I think they're just oversold because of the coof. Once things start opening I expect them to spike back up like oil did once institutional investors jump back in.

My main goal is to diversify to avoid large mistakes (PCG and BHC not withstanding, I just got stuck holding the bag on those from trades from way before this crash). You can't see all my oil stocks but I have another 8 or so that are all doing well, so I think the Grahamian strategy for value investing is valid.

>they're fairly typical of banks as far as I can tell
Well they're a little too typical for large banks where their customer service is subpar compared to regional banks and credit union. Wells Fargo is especially bad and they're cut out of working with the SBA in the same way that others can because of the 'account opening' scandal a few years ago and they're especially obnoxious about how they charge fees. Those things will impair its ability to grow.

>I like MGM's P/B, mainly, and I think they're just oversold because of the coof.
I don't disagree that they're oversold, but so is LVS. The issue with MGM is that their properties--while they have some good ones--are more dated and generally 'meh' tier, they're comparatively highly leveraged into the Vegas area. LVS has exceptional properties (including the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore), has diverse geographic exposure, makes a lot on convention centers, and they normally pay a higher dividend but they've suspended it temporarily to strengthen their balance sheet and to look at acquisitions.

> I think the Grahamian strategy for value investing is valid
I generally agree. Part of that is focusing on buying best-in-class stocks when they're a good value instead of their weaker competitors, though.

Alot of their tankers were already locked into 6 month contracts prior to coronavirus. Those standard rates will be included on May earnings. As time progresses, some of those contracts will be ending and those ships can be re-rented at higher daily rental rates. this will come to fruition moreso in August than it will May because it will have given more time for more tankers to come off 1x rate contracts and enter into 2x rate contracts.

The worst thing that could happen to Tesla is people treat it actually like a car company by making steady money

I only really look at that shit when I play at day trading ES futures but the manipulation is quite obvious. I sometimes wonder if it's just algorithms fucking with other algorithms while they squabble back and forth over a few ticks up/down.

Do you know how big these countries are, my man? How unlimited their human capital is and quite frankly their capital in general. You are talking about nuclear powers here. And I can tell you that if Trump really fucks it up with the Chinks we will get a Venezulean Missile crisis and Iran will fire nuclear armed Scuds at the Saudi's and Israeli's before you can say "Shoah".

There are many things to consider.
- Irregular dividend (e.g. from ADR and MLP) have a non-recoverable 40% withholding
- Regular dividend in TFSA have a 15% withholding non-recoverable, is tax-free in RRSP, and is 15% recoverable in unregistered accounts.
- Many company types' dividends count as 'doing business with the company' and not as dividend. For example you don't receive ROC from REITs, you receive 'business income', which is unrecoverable with a massive tax.
- You are technically not allowed to daytrade in a registered account but what constitutes daytrading is completely up to the CRA to decide.
