No Carona NuNeets
No Summer NEETS
No seething wagies

Frens, I am having a bit of an existential crisis today. Are we lazy or are we jusitifed given the absolute state of the world?

Is getting a minimum wage job the better alternative? I can't afford school.

Both

If you can even get one. Not everyone is a NEET by choice.
Personally I am holding out for sustained high unemployment rates so NEEThood becomes normalized. Sometimes things need to get worse before they get better.

I would expect some form of UBI to be passed, but it's not likely going to happen under the current administration because Trump has surrounded himself by supply-side economists. Biden might be more likely to sign a bill that contains UBI in some for as a gesture of good faith to the progressive wing of the Dems but I don't think he'll win the presidency.
Something like 2/3rds of house Democrats support some form of UBI at least temporarily. There is really no other way to make sure the poorest people don't starve in the streets in the coming months/years. We will see what happens.
So yes, I do think being a NEET will eventually not be such a shameful thing, and that day will likely come sooner than later.
