I've been balding since my late teens or early 20's but I just started finasteride and monoxidil when I was 22 and it pretty much saved my hair, I'm 32 this year and still have almost the same amount, I don't understand why people absolutely lose their shit about it and yet choose to do nothing about it. There's no cure for it but the treatments are pretty good. In the end though everyone gets old and with age means hair loss for like 90% of men. Having an 18 year old's head of hair isn't realistic as you move into your 30's unless you have god tier genetics.

No side effects for me, still get boners just fine and no change in my semen consistency or libido or anything.

You don't understand it man, for one ok you are saying DHT has no purpose.. That is incredibly unlikely. Did you know that you have receptors in your brain, heart and other body parts?

Secondly, it is not just the removal of DHT that is occurring. For one thing, when you block the conversion of testosterone into DHT, you have an excess of testosterone - Your body then produces other hormones such as estrogen to counter balance the testosterone and it throws everything out of balance.

I will take your word for it. I also understand that certain trade-offs might be worth it. But I wouldn't just think there are no side effects, the effect of Propecia is more complex than you think. As mentioned earlier the mechanistic aspect of that enzyme you are inhibiting in your body, receptors on brain etc (possible mental side effects).

The truth is as with many things, from diet to pharmaceuticals. The science is not settled.

It's all about balance. Every action you take in life has both positive and negative consequences. There's a risk in anything you choose to do. There are people who are trying to force kids to get HRT and that's not even close to a grown ass man choosing to take a DHT blocker like Propecia. A week ago he tripped on ayahuasca and a day after he took mushrooms. He couldn't cope with the experience and as often happens in such conditions he got into a manic state. He didn't sleep for 6 days and then made the videos that you can now see on his channel where he claimed to enlighten(or fail to enlighten) his friends and family. All his behavior is characteristic of mania. Lack of sleep, elevated mood, psychosis, etc.
Mania really needs more public awareness. It happens all the time. I remember a lawyer that became manic during the 2008 crisis cause he overworked himself. He has been bipolar ever since. The brain really has it's limits and that applies to everyone
