When you do finally come and I highly recommend it if you want adventure don't dress nice, keep your stuff in the hotel, only bring your passport and atm card and money. Keep that in your passport and in side your backpack. All the kids that surround you and ask for money are ussually trying to steal from you and are mostly in gangs. They literally will not let you leave the country until you get it and make sure to keep all the documents they give you after you are approved. Don't think so. Most of the time the embassy really isn't there to help you. They side with the local government 99% of the time. For example, if you get accused of crime, and your innocent, all they will do is show up to your jail cell and give you a list of lawyers to contact. I'm a cyber security consultant. The only reason I can get through the blackouts and do online work is because of my IT skills. I built backup power similar to ups with golf cart batteries, have two fiber connections and two cell connections. I also route my traffic through ddwrt router that is setup as a vpn in the states so my clients/work doesn't know where I"m at. Been doing it for 4 years. When I get my first remote job, after the first year of working I decided to go to thailand and travel without telling them. If your careful and know what your doing you can make it work. If I had a degree I would just teach english online. I make way more money then an english teacher ever will but I'm sick of the stress in all honestly. My next move is to just keep investing in passive income ideas (mostly reits and stocks) until I get stop working for good. Hella yeah my brother do it. Learn how to setup a vpn on a router like ddwrt and if you use a mac make sure to set the timezone to where ever your supposed to be. I almsot got caught in taiwan cause I went back to the usa to pick up a mac that I was supposed to be using for a client. The damn macs look at the wifi ap names and mac adddresses and know where your at based upon that. It sets the timezone and location so make sure to keep the wifi disabled and only connect through your ddwrt with an ethernet cord.

To answer your other question, when I was in college I needed a language and the only language class that would fit my schedule that semester was Chinese. I ended up taking 3 semesters of it and I enjoyed it, I planned a 1 year trip to study at a University there and I decided to sorta stay because I liked it. It can be difficult to live here sometimes but instead of going to the meme destinations of Thailand or Japan or Korea, I like going to a place that is a lot less traveled by westerners.

Nope they dont know. I have to be very careful because my clients all have blue teams, and many clients have monitoring software on the workstations. You need a VPN on ddwrt router, with kill switch enabled if the connection drops. Only connect to it through an ethernet cord and disable the wifi. Also, get a dedicated work phone to connect to you ddwrt router and recieve the two factor on your phone only. I also use a skype number for my "cell phone" and thankfully haven't had problems with getting security codes sent through that when we cant use google autheniticator or symantic vip.
