Listen here Jack, let me set you straight. This thing isn't going anywhere. Back in my day we didn't call it covid whatever; we called it the "Shanghai Shivers". I used to know a guy, went by the name Cornflake Jackson. Ol' Cornflake used to play guitar down at the pool hall. Here's the deal, fat: if Cornflake Jackson says the Shanghai Shivers, "Ain't no thang" you can take that to the bank, buckaroo. That's how I know you're full of shit. If I am investing for income, would checking mutual funds (index or not) for total dividend and capital gains distributions against total returns not be key? That is, some pay few distributions and most returns are unrealized capital gains while others consistently distribute dividends and regular, realized capital gains. Would those realized capital gains be more passive income than a simple dividend?

>> No.19273844

>O's average payments good enough to buy in right now or are there better dividend companies for the same investment?
i can't say anything for O, but the general climate for commercial real estate is bad. I would treat it like a bank and if you absolutely believe in it long term, buying a sliver now won't hurt too much, but we haven't even started to see pain. Way too much risk, and definites for the future are likely bad.

I'd say real estate is still far less riskier than airlines. Like some countries are enforcing 3-week quarantines, then you have to quarantine for 2 weeks again once you're back home. RioCan has been shifting into residential real estate years before corona. Like I get that riocan is red as a pullback to the entire week's of slow gains, i am just perplexed as to how H&R is still green and up +15% since the start of the week compared to RioCan's steady +4% so far.

did I miss some news or vital details about H&R?? I was heavily considering H&R last week too so this sucks man..

The funny part is that the popping of the debt bubble in March is the reason that we saw the fire sale. And it didn't finish popping, either. Corporations simply added on to existing debt once the Fed began repeating the 2008 playbook at warp speed. So we're still under the effects of the same debt bubble, only slightly deflated, but with worse underlying economic conditions for the corporations involved, meaning significantly lower forward earnings.

It's a garbage company and SpaceX will cause it to fail, along with Virgin Orbit as Starship becomes operational and greatly lowers cargo and tourism launch prices. You may be able to swing trade it but it's only a matter of time until investors start seeing through it. It's never going to be the "Tesla of space" and exists on pure delusion.

Virgin Orbit has a test over the weekend and seeing as SPCE pumped 6.5% today, I figure that it is mostly priced in. If the test fails, Tuesday will be bloody for the stock. It's funny because Virgin Orbit is a private company and SPCE investors wouldn't see any profit from it even if it succeeds.

Isn't OXY more exposed to oil production and not refinement?

>Why should it be linear?
It's not necessarily that it should be linear, but there's not a reason for the price to be sustainably exponential unless we're assuming that the price and valuation will necessarily adjust with constant inflation. It just doesn't really make sense why growth should be sustainably exponential when most, if not all, things are not. That said I'm have a better sense for how the S&P could be exponential, however i'll stick to the idea that the debt based buyback loop is more than enough to have created a huge inflation of equities prices.
