When I started trading, the idea that an index would have clear support and resistance levels made no sense to me. It's just an average (kinda) of a bunch of different companies, right? And yet, price gets sticky in these spots and volume is needed to move through them with authority in much the same way as support/resistance levels behave on individual stocks.

Robinhood: gimp research tools and only has a few meme charts. best thing about it is how easy it is to execute trades and it looks nice. ive heard the options prices are more expensive but i dont know if thats true. is it really as bad as people say tho?

TDameritrade: i just opened one. they have much better research tools for sure including many different reports instead of just morningstar like Robinhood. i was interested in their desktop platform ThinkOrSwim but after using it i dont think its that useful ultimately. the tdameritrade app seems nice so far and has all of the research tools the website does.

As you all know the ECBs actions were deemed irregular by the German courts. But without the Bundesbank they essentially have no power. And since the German bonds are the benchmark and basis of the European financial system I dont really know what will happen if the ECB will no longer support their purchases. Might destabilize the euro even more when the ECB could only buy French or Italian bonds and be deemed unstable.

I use Questrade and RBC together for the most part since they fail in different ways, so putting the two of them together is actually better overall. Questrade is cheaper for small volume trades and ETFs, RBC is cheaper for large volume trades (flat rates, no extra SEC fees). RBC gives me real-time data as part of the account, Questrade charges extra for real-time data. Questrade has a $1k account minimum to avoid maint fees; RBC has a $15k account minimum to avoid maint fees.

I like that Questrade has desktop software, but it's a bit janky and feels straight out of 2002.

QTrade has the best watchlist management, but is shit in every other way.

If you go back to the March selloff, rate cuts, massive repos, and QE and whatever was announced did next to nothing to stop blood red days, but when the market was oversold suddenly all those things mattered a great deal and fueled upward pressure.

We haven't priced in unemployment, bad earnings, China, EU, GDP, bankruptcies, mortgages or any of that nonsense because they haven't cumulatively reached a point where it has to be priced in. If we're headed back down, you'll find that all those things that we ignored will be creating a lot of downward pressure.
