2011186 No.2011186 [Reply] [Original]

Good morning faggots. It is clear to me a number of /biz/mark ass bitches are still denying ETH, and this makes me feel sad. As I've said before I want us all to make it to the moon together, this is our best ticket.

This coin has a real future in the real world, Chinese money washing is real and has propelled BTC for a good stretch, but look at the pace of ALTs right now, 5 billion added in 7 days, much of that going to ETH. If this rate holds BTCs mighty cap will look like fucking peanuts, if the shit continues to build momentum we're going to overshoot the fucking moon.

Who is struggling to see the future that us holding ETH are predicting? I don't want you necking yourselves when /biz/ is occupied mostly by the rich, so if you have any questions I am here to help.

Also general ETH discussion, it's been a wild week.

I could only buy 4 ETH (right now in coinbase so they're pretty much locked in there), I don't know if I'll be able to afford much more as it goes up,

Will there be dips?
How long do I hold for?
When do pull out to enjoy the profit?
Is ETH mining worth it? Cloud mining perhaps?

I want strong hands but I'm weak and squishy right now and I need training and guidance

Can't say I think it will, but it would not be surprising. That exact thing just happened with DASH, slammed in half only to recover it all before anyone noticed, I created a thread on it at the time and got no replies. Observe it from late feb to see what I'm talking.

The rules for barter transactions apply to being paid in virtual currency (e.g. if you sell things for bitcoin online or accept bitcoin for services you offer).

The rules for capital gains taxes apply where you buy, hold, and sell cryptos. This means you can also declare crypto losses for tax benefits in Canada, but these rules only kick in once they've left your hand and you've got the cash again.

Interestingly there is also the possibility that your trading activities are characterized as you ordinarily carrying on a business (e.g. full time stock market playing) in which case you have to pay full income taxes rather than the half you normally would through capital gains.

This area of the law is a bit blurry and I'm not certain how they'd make the finding - certainly the specifications of crypto are enough to warrant not treating it like that IMO, but who knows how dinosaurs will understand it all.

I'm going to be bearish for probably the next month for a couple of reasons:

- Volatile market where people don't have any risk management or portfolio - literally putting their life savings in.

- With the slightest bump in the road people will realize how much money they have at stake, and will cash out.

Combining this, and you have yourself a bursting bubble.

OK - I am a general crypto skeptic

However - ETH has real potential

The reason is the blockchain method for smart contracts.

I view smart contracts now as similar to email in 1992. In 1992, we all knew someone who used email, btu most people were like "why dont you just call them on your cool wireless land line phone or from your huge bag phone?"

Of course by 2000, most everyone was using email and by 2005, it was impossible to do business without email.

I think smart contracts are like that. Now, its just like "huh? cool, I guess, but why woudl we do things differently thatn we have for decades?"

In 5 years, smart contracts will be commonplace, but not ubiquitous. 10-15 years, it will be normal business procedure.

SO - the key is this for ETH value:
1: How do we ensure that it is the default smart contract gas and that someone else doesnt come in with a smoother riding competitor?
2: How do we accelerate the acceptance curve?

I dont have an answer for 1 - but I can tell you that for #2, there need to be some dumbed down tutorials. All the ones I've seen ar written by tech/crypto nerds for other tech/crypto nerds. We need to figure out a way to explain the process and applications to an HR specialist, an ad man, a govt worker, a non-profit exec.

Basically, how do we redpill the masses?

I mean after we have bought up tons of this shit, obviously...

Is there any reason not to short ETH right now after the huge gains and now a bit or stagnation?

>> No.2019689

>>2019676
ETH typically bounces around a range of about 3.5 dollars. This was true for 49-52 for a very long time.

In addition, ETH tends to crash significantly after a surge, bounce around at a lower level, and then surge to new highs. It has repeated this pattern many times now.

However, given the news on the horizon for ETH in May and June, I would not bet on this pattern repeating so systematically again. The upcoming news will almost certainly affect it.

I would say that shorting ETH right now would be extremely risky for those reasons.

really? from all i've read day trading is the one that requires less knowledge from the market. swing trading and investing are a lot harder IMO.

i only trade in altcoins so i have no clue how they compare to real stocks, but its not uncommon for day traders that trade in stocks to base most of their shit only in level 2 quotes or volume analysis/price action.

>>2021235
look for a previous pattern. it the graph ascending or descending overall?
on a short term, see if its below the EMA but above the lower part of the bollinger band and on its way up to cross the EMA.
buy it before it crosses the EMA, sell it after.

1% compound daily interest is a fuckton of money. even taking maker/taker fee in the worst case scenario you still have 0.5% compound daily interest.

if you play your cards right you can hold off to 1.5% or even 2%.

to make it worth your while you have to reinvest 85% profits and have a good amount of money though. or just go all in like a retard i guess.

also, i usually keep myself between 15m to 2days on charts.

usually 15min to 6hrs tho. don't be scared, but don't be stupid and DONT. BE. GREEDY. fucking easier said than done when your profits are going past 2% and then stalls and you wait like a dumbass and it goes down... and in the time you have to wait for it to come back up you could have gotten 1% two or three times.

Need general exchange advice..but this question is retarded im sure, so it doesnt deserve its own thread.

This has me confused, how bids and asks work in the exchange. I get that i can create an order to sell X for considerably higher than current bids, knowing the order probably wont get filled until the coin goes up in value and gets closer to the asking price. This covers the buy low sell high case automatically. Great.

But how do I handle stop losses? If i say sell X for considerably lower than the current asks, that order will simply get fufilled immediately (not behave like a stop loss). Im using Bittrex if it matters.

Am I missing something here? am I wrong in thinking the fundemental bid/ask system in place makes using the order system for a true stop loss impossible?

It has the potential to replace everything you can do through an ethernet cable

you should read up on blockchain technology to better understand it

basically it'll create a trustless, decentralized and efficient internet thats pretty much immune to ddos attacks and the likes, and it can also be used to efficiently move cash around the globe, which makes it able to replace bank transfer systems aswell

the fact that major banks and it companies like microsoft, intel and jp morgan already backs should atleast prove that it HAS some kind of potential to achieve this, and there's over 200 companies to come in the next 2-3months, so many that they even have to wait list some of them.

Bank of America even showcased a demo they built upon the ethereum platform.
But it could also crash and burn horrible, but if you never play, you never win

In the following weeks three big Ethereum conferences will take place where some kind of announcements are expected to take place. Then next month the Metropolis. It's also rumored there will be more partnership announcements between now and then.

There are also over 200 companies that are joining the Ethereum Alliance and will be announced over the coming months.

Ether (ETH) is basically compute power or fuel in form of a token, which you'll need to run your program on the ethereum blockchain, which means large banks and companies no longer need massive server rooms to process and store their programs, only for backup
