Ampleforth literally made every single stablecoin and crypto currency store of value completely pointless and obsolete. Why? No token requried, no governance, not backed by anything other than it's own protocol, just like Bitcoin. You are witnessing the rise of Ampleforth to the #3 spot on CMC right under there where it belongs.

In August, we are going to see $5 Ampleforth. We are going to see $7 Ampleforth, we are going to see multiple instances of double digit ampleforth.

Understanding AMPL Cycles & Whales

The first generation of whales (n1) have sold and rode off into the sunset. Remember $3.82? They crashed it down to $1.50 and the rest is history.

The second generation (n2) have also come and gone. Are you seeing a pattern?

For simplicities sake, lets assume we are in the midst of n3. This time, with the market cap being an unprecidentant 500M, it's going to be harder to become a whale (it's more expensive to buy a larger % of the market cap) and its going to be HARDER to crash the price to under $2 (ATH volume, ATH liquidity, ATH fomo)

However, there will be points when whales need to cash out large sums. Traders who attempt to swing the rebase "dump" are often times unsuccesful. I myself have lost quite a few % of market share trying to swing a week ago. Lesson learned. It's not impossible, but the awareness right now is going parabolic and new money keeps flowing in. Holding is smarter.

We simply don't know what will happen. Price fuels fomo, $3.50 could be gas lighting the run to $5. It's a 35% rebase, no whale can dump more than that, not anymore. They've cashed out. Check ethplorer. It's "nouveau riche" now, 200k-500k Lamborghini whales. Not gonna move a 500M Mcap with THIS much volume and demand.

>So how does this work as a stable coin when you don't know how many ampl you're going to get in your wallet each day

Because your overall percentage of market ownership remains constant. If/When the price settles out around a dollar, as it is designed to do, there won't be major swings because whales are getting fewer and fewer as market cap grows.

>And why would people keep their money in it when it's at a 100 billion market cap when it's not going to go up much more and it's not backed by anything

Because there currency will then NOT have major price swings and it should be relatively stable. But since your overall market ownership remains constant, there's no pressure to hold and expect to make fatter stacks at a later date. It can then be used as a form of currency, rather than a speculative investment. As to your last point, what's Bitcoin backed by? What's the dollar backed by? There are several answers to the last one, but the most important and accurate one is a general consensus that a dollar has value.

We know exactly how much the rebase is daily. Every 24 hours cycle at 6:00 UTC time a chainlink Oracle clocks the value of ampl. 12 hours later that price from the Oracle is out into this equation...1+((Ampl Price -1)/10) this calculates the rebase size. It's going to like 3 billion mid term. Tether is a stable coin at 9 billion. Tether sucks because it's based on usd fiat and fiat is broken trash. Tether is also under scrutiny for lying about actually backing usdt with anything. Ampl is a true stable coin that needs no backed assets and has the inherenat value of being stakable and tradable. Anyway, it will become the stable coin to replace at least tether at 9 billion mcap. Beyond that maybe it really does rival Bitcoin.

ok so i think the default interface is only giving me the beehive. the geyser gives you a token too?
so you deposit into uniswap, get uniswap-ampl-weth tokens, put those into the geyser, get geyser tokens, and put those into the beehive? i'll check out zapper though thanks!

From my understanding future calls are banking on the price reaching a certain point, and when they get there they're paid a certain % of their future calls. AMPL related to future calls in FTX don't get rebased, however short calls do. Shorts are the opposite, bank on a lower price at which point you can execute an option to buy them at this price. You don't get a percentage of your call but instead buy the "stock" at that value.

>>20679703

to me it looks like geyser and beehive both are just ways to stake your uniswap-ampl-weth tokens and there are no other tokens (like geyser tokens) involved? seems like they just rolled out the beehive because geyser rewards were too good for such a large unexpected influx of people so they hid the frontend?

where did you read that? link? still looks to me like they are just incentives to stake your uniswap pool tokens and get rewarded in ampleforth, which the team has put aside for this. what is the beehive in 25eth/25beehive/50ampl even supposed to mean? sounds recursive

>>20679993
as i've also just posted in the other ampl thread:

the more i look into it the more i am convinced this is the case and nobody wants to talk about it. that's also why there is so little info on the whole beehive migration thing and the geyser in general

so early investors in the original geyser get far greater rewards and new investors don't get to see that frontend on purpose

so please somebody refute this if possible

anon, don't act purely on emotions
emotions partly play a big role in AMPL to understand the cycle behind it, but simple math is even more important
Let's say you bought AMPL for 1k @2.58$, that'd be 387,5 AMPL
After tonights rebase you would have around 431,17 AMPL, this would effecitevely lower your average buy in price to 2.25$. So as long as the price tomorrow is above 2.25$ you're getting some extra cash
If you just look at past Rebases you'd realize, that even if the Oracle Rate would go to the lowest of the last few cycles for the next days, it'd only take you a couple of days to get so much AMPL through rebases that you come out even or on top no matter what

read the whole thing, which seems more like a community member blog/forum post than an official tutorial? my problem is there is not a single word on WHY the beehive exists and why you would migrate. if you check the ampleforth subreddit via search function there are only 2 threads mentioning beehive - same with the youtube comments on your linked video - every time it's people asking "pilot geyser APY seems better, why should i migrate?" - with no clear answer. also the pilot geyser is no longer shown to us but clearly must still exist for legacy members. all i'm saying.

i just don't like how intransparent this is, you just say "hey guys, this is way faster growth than we expected, we can't pay out that many ampls for incentivizing so much pool liquidity so here's we have to reduce rewards or our allocated supply will run out"

not just stealth introduce some retardedly named new thing with no explanation and hide the old one with zero communication

maybe i'm wrong and they actually INCREASED rewards for the beehive and people on reddit and youtube are too dumb to think of the multiplier.
don't know. anyone here who is in both pilot geyser and beehive so that the pilot geyser is still visible and can post APY% screenshots to compare?

Not enough marketcap yet to absorb the fluctuations

nice trips, i'll answer you. it's currently in market cap discovery mode and currently subject to crazy increasing demand and rebasing to adjust the supply to that demand. this will not go on forever, but could go on for months. once the true market cap has been discovered, as the previous anon has said it will absorb the fluctuations without moving much at all. by that time, early holders will have rebased their ample in a compounding manner to thousands of ample...effectively making thousands of dollars.

>> No.20686264

So when is the optimal time to buy in? When the market cap is lowest?
