IOG is a hoghly profitable company. it does contract work all over the globe and charles is running it at a profit. cardano cost more to develop than planned, and the funding for continuing development comes from IOG (charles' company) &/or from Charles' very deep pocketbooks. charles was a bitcoin OG and got rich to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars from bitcoin. charles is dedicated to completing the contract for cardano (as in all aspects of the design completed). now that POS is live IOG can also make money off of staking although charles said it is likely that IOG will not run stake pools in the future.
