This is becoming infuriating as every single time I stumble upon a good deal I'm 1 day too late. And on stuff I do jump in on it tumbles downward. I can't seem to catch a break with this. Or my brother either. It's stressing me out as he is losing hard and can't seem to catch a break at all. He'd have been better off going all in after the covid dump and he'd very likely be up by 2x at this point.

Not necessarily. They can give ideas of what to look at. Don't go off pure hype and see if, IN YOUR OWN ESTIMATION, there is any merit to setting up a position. And even then, I wouldn't make the position very large. Those should be for plays you know from the ground up.
The single exception is biotech. Avoid all the small and microcap biotech garbage like the plague. That is pajeet PnD home turf in good times and bad. The one exception is the Covid vaccine game but those are ALL swings because there will ultimately be only 1-2 winners there and they won't make much money off it because of enormous government and public pressure.
