Once you've read one Taleb book you've read them all. I found Antifragile illuminating and interesting but its pretty much the same as the Black Swan.

Be aware that he is a massive contrarian autist who also has a bunch of retarded ideas and isn't afraid to shout about the on twitter. He's like Newton: a lot of good ideas but also a lot of crazy shit.

IQ is the closest thing we have to g for general intelligence. It clearly correlates to wealth, criminality and so on more so than almost anything else. Taleb is just buttmad and lies about it on medium.

He says it's just test-taking ability and sure, there are some rich drug dealers and rappers. But it's clearly obvious they're an exception, that we have tests for a reason: to measure g. It's clearly obvious that intelligence is important in life.

My gf, who would not score well on an iq test, is good at public speaking and making others feel comfortable, which as an introvert, I am terrible at.

There are other kinds of intelligence that aren't strictly measured by IQ. But IQ 80 people simply aren't going to be engineers and are unlikely to become self-made millionaires except by sport, drugs or music. They probably aren't going to read very well, they're far more likely to be homeless. Public speakers are more likely to be IQ 120 than 80 or 100. IQ doesn't even attempt to measure charisma but it does simply by correlation to g. Michael Jordan isn't known for his general intelligence at all, just very skilled at one thing.

G isn't quite the sum total of human worth. But it's a very good measurement of productive capacity in the vast majority of cases.
