>If not, isn't that semi-scamming his investors?

Not in the slightest. At no point, and nowhere, has quant ever promised or even implied any kind of ROI should be expected from holding their utility token. It's an unwritten agreement usually that if we fund your ICO, you make some half-arsed effort to pump the token, but they don't have to.

Certainly not a "scam" in any legal sense. Morally yes it's a dick move to essentially abandon the token.

>> No.21928930

>>21928215
This is retarded. A utility token has to be used, otherwise it is an illegal security.

So the token will be used (duh) and will massively accumulate in value.

The state of some anons.

>> No.21929021

not sure whether it's legal though, there is a lot of complicated legislation regarding such investments where the CEO makes big claims and tries to insert hopium into their brains, especially during criticical moments when he gives big updates and decides to use those moments to sell his tokens. This is pump and dump to further your own financial interests by shitting on the investors that just swallowed your hopium. There must be legislation against this type of cowboy behaviour. I think if somebody really wants to, they could make a solid legal case against Gilbert and sue him.

>> No.21929116

Any idea what you're talking about, at all? Do you have even the faintest idea what actually, really, drives price increase? Hint: someone has to buy it. Repeatedly, lots of people, more than are selling.

>>21929021
>if somebody really wants to, they could make a solid legal case against Gilbert

tbf he probably has it all covered. It's all regulated and ticked off by FINMA shit so he's not done anything wrong, legally. He's a cunt to the people who funded his startup, yes, but that's for him to live with and I'm sure he doesn't lose any sleep over it. Making (apparently genuine) statements about the business's progress in the chat room has got to be kosher. If people buy because of that, then that's up to them. He isn't telling anyone to.

>> No.21929183

>>21929021
The token is 100% legal, and adheres to token utility law. It must be used as an active utility token for it to remain legal. Otherwise Gilbert goes to prison which is obviously not part of his business plan.
