First heard about BTC in 2010 - as a libertarian who was into tech, thought it was a neat idea but didn't read much more into it.

2011 finally decided to buy a few $1k worth but broke my laptop when drunk and by time I replaced it I'd forgot about BTC until a year or two later started seeing it mentioned in MSM and thought "fuck, missed my chance".

Came out of Army in 2014 with about $40k savings and instead of putting into BTC etc I wasted it all going to fucking college.

Did finally invest in Sept 2017 and had about $200k profit by Jan 2018 (would have been more but daytraded shitcoins) and then held/daytraded all through 2018 until I lost everything.

2017 up 4x on $50k, watched it bleed out to ~$35k before cutting my losses. I'm still claiming that crypto loss on my current year taxes. A lesson in greed and if I'd had pulled out my initial investment, playing with house money, I'd have been in the market up until now and likely have made the money back and more. Could have bought BTC in 2011 when it was sub $3. My college roommate at the time was telling me about it and not having an understanding of finance or monetary policy at the time I just shrugged it off. I think he ended up buying about 200-300 BTC for shits and giggles with what little disposable income he had. During the 2017 Bullrun, he was frantically trying to recover it from his old laptop he had it stored on but was never able to do so. If I could go back in time, I'd have bought a couple hundred BTC each month since my mom was paying my CC bills behind my dad's back. I could have paid for my house in full, got a brand new 4Runner when my car shit out on me earlier this year, bought enough LINK where I was sitting on a 500K stack, and literally have been able to retire before 30.

Thankfully I decided to cash out with my crypto gains and went all-in on LINK when it was sitting around $0.17. I'm sitting on a 30K stack now and have been comfy ever since. It may have taken me longer to be able to retire off crypto gains, but it still makes me smile knowing I'll have made more off a $10K investment than my boomer parents have in their entire lifetime.

My grandmother left me a piece of land she had in the Northeast. Nothing was up there, couple hundred acres of nothing. Hard to access, even building a house on it wouldn't have been worth it. No lakes or anything. It was beautiful for sure, but no local infrastructure or anything. I immediately shopped it and sold it for 1.7 million. Thanks grandma. I was really happy. Taxes sucked but whatever, it was free money and a nice little addition to the retirement fund.

Fast forward a few years and I come across a story about a new quarry that's near that land. I read that a local guy found 40 million tons of granite in his land. Granite at the time went for about $100 per ton, it's cheaper now. So this guy just discovers $4BN under his feet, standing on the land I sold him for under a million after taxes.

I knew about this board for years and would occasionally browse for the memes.
I only bought crypto recently. Got 20 linkies. Could've had much more if I bought when I was employed and not NEET but that's life.

Sold Verge after the McAfee pump

Sunk those Verge profits into Deep Brain Chain and Enigma pretty much because I liked the memes on here.

Lost most of my money as both projects are practically worthless now.

Selling link at 2$

>> No.22103644

I had 2 million statera and sold it all at the first 2 cents peak. It pumped next week to over 10 cents and later 40 cents. Also trustswap I got in for 200000k early on. I sold in the morning to swing trade it at 9 cents, within hours it was over 20 cents and later went to £2 dollars(I would’ve held it too). Also didn’t buy more sbree in the presale. And many others

I first came here in 2017 to laugh at all the pink wojaks when BTC crashed and I continued to browse here every few days because I loved the memes. I was a young NEET so I had no interest in investing. I read through some of the super early LINK memes and if I really wanted to, I probably could have gotten some money from my dad and went all in on LINK when it was like 10 cents. Fast forward to the corona crash earlier this year, I had like $5000 in the bank after quitting my job and I could have used it to buy LINK at $2, instead I spent some of it on guns/ammo, and the rest of it I put towards a medical bill for my dog and to help my dad pay off some house bills.

I ended up scrounging enough extra money to get 100 LINK at $6 and I've doubled my money already, but it bothers me that I didn't take the opportunity to get a 1-2k stack in March.

Yeah I learned all about crypto in 2017 or so and assumed it was a scam. Fuckin whoops.

I thought XRP was ridiculous when it first came out for 0.000004 or something stupid. There had never been a crypto like that before.
I also thought $150 BTC was ridiculous.

I was here for ETH when it was $15, left the board to pursue meme normie bullshit. Then I came back during the elections every once in a while from shitposting on /pol/ LINK was at 16 cernts. Didn't buy any

I thought investing inc rypto and also the fact it was a bear market gave me enough time to spend years accumulating since I knew almost nothing about the market, needless to say I bought all my LINK over $1, but not over 2 thankfully

Peopoe who lived 1 or 2 bullruns should know that there's no way to predict what will happen.
You sell a coin after a x2 and it can either dump right after or do a x10.
You can't get all pumps.
You can't avoid all dumps.

Even in november 2017 when it was the craziest you could still be all in on a coin who's dumping for no reason while the rest pumps, and get bogged the second you switch.
I remember xrp being so late, people held it during the whole bull run while it was slowly going down, then went balls deep in shit like tron who dumped 70%, then xrp got a x5 or more the days after.
There's nothing suddenly happening except a few whales secretly deciding which coin pumps next.

You need luck even during the best times, of course there's survival bias making the winners smug as fuck and thinking they're finance geniuses but it's 99% luck.

>t. got x25 during 2017 and cashed out in time, got less lucky than some, more than others
