Outdated in the sense that many problems it tried to solve were by now solved with other tech, yes. But at the same time there are problems BTC does solve that none of the new tech solves yet. At this point, it can be said the tech itself is the whole crypto sphere, which has different parts which work most of the time together. Besides, BTC itself was not supplanted ever, because other tech that tried to take it further did add to it, but attempts to be a new, bettered, improved BTC all failed and were rendered useless.
So ultimately, no, but if we didn't have other, parallel technologies that work in tandem with it, the whole sphere would be a thousand times more limited than it is.
