I just find TA to be a guideline, almost like the signs on the expressways telling you how far you need to drive to this place or how many more exits until you get off where you are. I've seen too much TA and easily get eyesores from it, and at the same time no TA you're just taking a leap into the void.

My main issue with TA is that it fails to account for new and/or sudden information, like no one can anticipate a trump tweet or if we're a year back what jerome could say about the interest rates, as it only accounts for information up to when the analysis was made. It's great for planning entry and exits in real time since you can visualize the discrepancies better, but that's about it. I wouldn't treat it if it's gospel.

Honestly, professionally I do quant stuff, but with my own money it's all gut instinct. I look at P/E, and if I know anything about the business/industry sector, I make a prediction about their revenues, and then I translate that into future marketcap. Afterwards I compare with the market cap being traded in the market.
