>want to take on more work, but either can't or reliant on other people who take 1000 years to get back to me

How do I speedrun my career? I have so much free time that I wish I could spend on improving my opportunities. I'm making only $40k/year at the moment. Additionally, I don't have the option of getting more work from my employer; part of our regulations involves not being allowed to work overtime since it's my first year.

If I were a coder/artist/plumber, I could always pick up the hustle and do extra jobs: coding in my spare time, making paintings, or taking on more work to go plumbing. But right now I feel held back from excelling in my career.

How the fuck do I advance in my career like this? I have the time to put in extra work, but I'm still relatively new so I don't have the option of quitting without it looking bad on my resume, and I don't have access to pursuing a CPA in the near future.

What do?

Try finding a in for construction related stuff.. work as a laborer for cash.. theyre usually desperate for hard workers whoch means you can do it on weekends, certain days etc.. paving companies, painters, contractors, etc... work under the table. Or deliver pizza if you don't want to break your back.. again.. working for cash is key here.

you can't. i work in accounting as well. my job is retarded and i'm beheld to a multitude of boomerisms: shitty accounting systems, niggerbrained reports that aren't conducive to automation, boomers that work at a snail's pace, etc.

i look at my boss's job (accounting manager) or my boss's boss's job (segment controller) and it's just boomer meetings 24/7.

i should have studied comp sci. at least you can make good money, quickly in software. accounting a low, miserable slog to mediocre salary, constantly suffering the unbearable stupidity and inefficiency of boomers.

I'm not looking for work in another field. I already doordash on weekends and shit.

I want to further my stake in the field of accounting as quickly as possible. Doing construction would be based and bring in some cash, but it wouldn't help me when it comes to getting paid more as an accountant

Problem: If I want to start an accounting/consulting business, I need some kind of credentials -- mostly like a CPA (Certified Public Accountant.)

In my state, I'm not allowed to even attempt to get my CPA without having more work experience and having attended college for a fifth fucking year to get my masters degree.

I do own a small business, however, and lucked out super because it's supported by a wealthy friend of mine. However, we've struggled to keep it running and are currently trying to revitalize it (and we didn't pick a profitable industry to begin with.)

The real question is, how do I start a business where my main job could mainly be oversight and accounting while the laborers I pay handle most of the work?

No reason not to do it. I have to get credentials to start a business in my field too, it doesn't matter to me though because the alternative is far worse.

as others said, get your CPA
an accountant without CPA is pretty much a worthless normie waiting to be automated.

Here's one suggestion: Get CPA, go manager @ Big 4, get a comfy high paying manager role in industry after you put your time in like the rest of the spineless goys.

If you have more than 3 braincells consider the following instead:
What does success look like to you?
Make that image of success your overall goal, find or build the steps to reach that goal with smaller sub-goals.

If all you want is money think about the basic economic principles which drive a person's salary, supply and demand.
1.) Are you a high performer? Companies value high performers and should pay top $ to retain you (unless you work for a big4 cartel esque company then good luck faggot lmao) - Takeaway: become a high performer if you're not.

2.) Is your skillset in high demand? Companies only have limited budgets but certain types of work can help reach escape velocity around traditional bottlenecks i.e. "technology" and the ability to use it well. Companies that can leverage state of the art tech rapidly can have high competitive advantage which is why programming and data engineering are hot right now in literally every industry.
Takeaway: obtain an in-demand skillset

Last soapbox suggestion, prove you're a competent and reliable cuck and you'll find eventually you'll be "given the opportunity" to manage others. Probably for no pay increase. The unspoken contract is that if you that well, ask for more underlings, and get them, then you get a manager position easy. Managers make a lot of money but deal with retards. It's a deal with the devil so choose wisely.

Anon, you need to work on the realization that "working" will never make you wealthy. You show so much drive and ambition (or at least spit a good game, either way) that you need to research how to start your own accounting firm

You know why you will not be able to skyrocket/accelerate your career like you want to? Those dinosaur boomers are holding you back. No matter how high you climb the ladder, there will always be at least 1 boomer above you (who can't turn a computer on) saying "now now sonny, let's not get ahead of ourselves..."

and you will eventually rope. Do not fucking "work for people"

This.
You need to spend time "researching" actually researching certs and licenses so you can become a Financial Advisor. The CPA is a must and you need to be aggressive about it to your boomer managers. Ideally find one master boomer with a CPA and ask him how he got it. Ask for advice. Boomers love to mentor zoomers and it will give them purpose beyond waging. Get your company to pay for it.
