Is TA really this simple? Just draw triangle patterns, buy at support and sell at resistance?

>> No.24375147

>>24375116
If it was that simple no one would wageslave everyone would just sit at home and trade crypto. IMO I really doubt it’s working, you can have more luck trading by moon cycles or coffee reading.

Yes but also it doesn't fucking work

It definitely works but most people are shit at it, it's not as simple as drawing memelines and hoping for the best.

At best traditional TA works on macro, large timeframes like weekly or monthly, anything under is noise and things can turn on you fast.
Patterns are bullshit though.

>> No.24376358

>>24376256
Yes this, consistent trading strats are found on weekly monthly and daily timeframes. Less becomes too inconsistent although crypto tends to show divergence on 4 hour a lot. Not sure how if it works that consistently in other assets

This.

support and resistance unironically exist, but only because other traders think they exist.
People put large limit blocks at support and resistance levels which causes this slow oscillation between them until a market shift.
"Fake Breakout" candles happen when large groups of people get stopped, but the LOB is thicc enough to absorb that extra flush of market orders.

In the Dow theory, yes.

In practice the shit is volatile as fuck and there almost never any clear patterns fully formed.

Especially in futures. It is an incessant pain.

>Is TA just bull and bear flags?
No
>Is TA just triangle patterns?
Somewhat
>Is TA just a combination of recognizing support and resistance, triangles and alligators, head and shoulder formations, RSI, sRSI, Ichimoku cloud patterns, inverse head and shoulder formations, bull and bear flags, confluence with other assets, and volume levels?
Yes
>Does it work?
Sometimes
>Will it work for me?
If you're willing to play a game of probability
>So if I try it right now will I make money?
No, it's a game of probability. You take the lowest risks with the highest returns. Over and over, or over a long period of time. There are many ways to play the markets, find your style.

>> No.24378097

It doesn't work anon,
If you want to get technical with trading there are aspects of data science that are the subject of scientific papers. Quants are some of the highest paid people in the field. However, meme lines are unproved and nobody with any level of education in Finance takes them seriously

>> No.24378103

>>24375116
TA is not science, it just gives you more information to make a decision. when you combine it with other methods, it can help you make or drop or trade
in stocks you do your FA, if it's good you buy, if it's so-so you look at the TA
TA doesn't work for day trading (because day trading = casino for retail traders) anyone telling you it does is trying to sell you their course on ichimoku analysis

>> No.24378143

If you go back and look at the graphs you can find shit tons of TA failures. It's mainly confirmation bias. My understanding is people think it works and make trading decisions on it. For long holds do fundamental analysis instead. For TA Buying volume and rsi + supports is better imo. People flock to those levels. If price is at a support you can flip a coin to decide if you're longing or shorting. Set a stop loss of 1%, set a profit take at 2-3% before the next support.

Here's a list of Youtubers. Easy to digest shit you can just listen to on the daily for fun.
>1) Normie/entry level understanding of crypto market sentiment and occasional TA patterns but focusing mostly on meta movements...
Crypto Lark:

>2) Laid back, math-intensive, efficiency-based, long-term hold TA by a scientist that designs their own charts. Makes a point of not running ads and not using clickbait ALL CAPS TITLES ever ever...
Benjamin Cowen:

>3) Intermediate TA with normie memes with crypto text overlaid. Just another nice source to have notifications pop up from...
Tyler S.:

Mango Research:

These are just some my favorites. These will get you started. After following these sorts of people for a while, you start to learn the terms, and will start to do your own TA--make terrible mistakes, and then continue to learn, getting gradually better.
This is just one way of learning TA. Godspeed if you choose this route.

Nope, everything is based on probability and taking into account mass psychology. it's pretty fucking hard, i'm a big fan of Elliot Wave and Fibs.

just my opinion, It works when you can scroll back through years of a charts performance and see if it worked back then. If you look at (this is example not truth) walmart stock to USD and see that 80% of bullflags on the daily candle chart, that implies there is an 80% of the one your currently looking at working. TA is a game of statistics, it's advanced gambling, and it most certainly works. All of the moves can be explained by understanding market psychology.

I highly recommend crypto cred to get started.
