False dichotomy. There's no rule saying you can't do both or risk a small amount of your capital.

I had an appointment with my (((free))) Fidelity financial advisor, since I made a lot of money in the bull market that I don't know what to do with, and he literally said this to me. I get that the boomer meme can work, and that you can fuck yourself up worse by panic-selling and locking in your losses, but it was still a bit tiresome being told to just put all my money in stocks and not do anything about the possibility of a crash.

This saying is just coping for the noobs who don't know what the fuck they are doing. Also financial advisors keep repeating this to wash their hands after suggesting someone to put their lifesavings in at the very top of a stock bubble. Someone's gotta buy them bags....

Yeah that's exactly what I thought. Like someone who works for an investment firm is gonna suggest someone take their money out of mutual funds or stocks, lol.

Since you seem smart, do you think that we could see a correction next week once TSLA dips? Lotta big-name ETFs like the ARK funds seem overinvested in the stock.

Doesn't "time in the market" automatically imply DCAing?

exactly they have financial incentive to always say that it's a good time to invest regardless of the actual situation.

>could we see a correction next week
I mean the meme stocks could correct anytime. Personally I would not be able to hold any of the meme stocks such as TSLA at this time they are extremely overvalued and even that sounds like an understatement. However we do have clown markets so who knows what's gonna happen especially in the short term its near impossible to see what's gonna happen. Longer term I do see stocks like TSLA will have to correct significantly. Large indices such as sp500 might make small corrections but with all the liquidity I don't think it's possible to see big crashes anymore since where would you put your money?

Lol. Do not sell just because idiots are coping with the “muh stock has to be overvalued” just because they fail to see what’s going on and missed out. Tesla will be a trillion dollar company within two years under this Biden administration.

Won't the fatcats try to dip it so they can buy at lower cost though? I mean it's valued so high they're practically pricing in a successful Mars colony..... And other car companies are moving into the electric market. Seems like I could always buy it back on the dip.

Sure there’s nothing wrong with taking some profits. Just saying for the long term, it’s easier to just keep holding obvious winners (which Tesla and Bitcoin are) and sell off a little at a time if needed. But I’ve been holding both for years and made insane profits up to this point so to each his own.

No you've got a good point drawing a parallel to bitcoin. I personally think the tech behind BTC is kinda dated and it's got a cult surrounding it in the same way goldbugs have a narrative built around precious metals, but whether Tesla is legit going to corner the market or if Musk is all hype, he probably has a few years of mooning left in him. Thanks for the tip, it's definitely a good point. Good night sleep well!
