How frugal are you?

What have you done recently to save more money?

I'll start.

Recently I dropped my telecom company and switched to a new service provider.

I own my phone and started with a new provider that lets me buy monthly plans in bundles to save money. My old phone bill was upwards of $80 for unlimited talk and text and 5GB of monthly data.

Now with my new carrier, I pay about $100 every three months and have unlimited talk, text, and 8GB of monthly data.

Feels good because I hate telecomms.

Including my mortgage payment I probably spend $17,000 per year and I gross $57,000 which ends up being closer to $38,000 after taxes.
I’ve been working more overtime to get some more efficient appliances for my house. For example, I replaced a natural gas 80 gal water heater with an electric tankless model for about $1200 (electrician wanted like $400 of it). It’s the only appliance that was still running on gas.
>hurrr natural gas is cheaper than electric
Yes, but it also burns 24/7. Just in 4 months I have removed gas bill completely and electric bill only went up $10.

I’m cutting Xmas gift costs and reducing it down to $10 per couple instead of the usual $15 per person, thus saving me a couple hundred bucks.

I got a new smart thermostat for $150 and electrician wanted $340 to install it so I did it myself in 2-3 hours and saved $340

I have back problems so I didn’t do the entire attic insulation, but I cut costs by hiring just the main contractor and asked him to not use his people as I would be the sole helper. I have found that he was flexible enough to allow me to sign for liability and then help him. It was only $400 to blow 8 inches of insulation in my attic.

To me, frugality is being proactive instead of penny pinching and couponing.

I cancelled all my monthly subscription services except my $20 cell service, sold most of my belongings, and moved from a high cost of living area to my mom's house in the South.
Once employed, I should be able to hit a 75% savings rate here and build a lot of capital very quickly.

Got a new job in August and have been spending money like crazy.

Probably spent about 6k on new clothes and 2k on christmas gifts.

Going into 2021 Im only paying for my internet and phone which combined is about $200/month

No debts. Probably going to start save at least 3-4k/ month and investing about a 3rd of that

I regularly eat rice, beans and noodles with whatever meat is on sale and frozen vegetables

Cancelled cable and all my subscription services. Also found out I was paying $5 per month for a landline I didn't own (fucking cable companies)

I don't buy new clothes hardly ever, maybe get an outfit once a year.

Now I just need to quit smoking and my living expenses in total would drop to around $1000/month for everything including rent and utilities

I declared bankruptcy during a divorce and am starting over. No debt, three streams of income for now, and got backpaid by PUA. put it all into bullion and stocks. cancelled all streaming services. Only pay rent, phone bill, car insurance. Eat out maybe once a week, and that's a fast food meal. Stacked 4k last month doing this. Can do it for quite some time.

I am 34 years old. In a graduate program currently. No debt left besides a little bit of college loans I took out during all the shenanigans. Only value to it is hindsight, and pocketing nearly every dollar that comes my way with the foresight of where to spend it.
