I have a feeling this time at least 5x more normies are getting in crypto.
But consider this scinario
>Dec 2021 - Jan 2022
>btc absolutely moons
>more and more normies fomoing in at the last minutes
>the last sell off happens, price drops by 70%
>half a billion of normies get absolutely rekt at the same time
What will be the consequeces of this?
Will the normies paint crypto in a bad way?
Will they push daddy governments to put more regulations on crypto?

The normies will probably protest at the bitcoin headquarters and try to attack the CEO.

Imagine the shock of normies when they find put that there is no bitcoin hq, who will they then blame? Themselves? I dont think so, they will blame the government and demand they take action

What regulations they can put on crypto?

Literally anything they want.

absolutely valid projection. Half a billion to be rekt so when can be rich? Ponzi checks out.

Normies are going to get cannibalized and be to busy with wars on their doorstep.

Sure but will it be enforceable?
There is no central bank to control.
There isn't even a website they can seize like pirate Bay.
It's peer to peer untraceable fucking money laundering.
And we're talking "assassination is a viable option" levels of money people have in this.
Every single organized ring from the Yakuza to the Russians to the Mexican cartels doesn't want this to end. And the politician or banker who makes it his task will literally be picking his hill to die on.

If that happens they will get a martyr to blame all crypto on. It will be easier for the government to push on extreme regulations if they wish.

goverments cant regulate crypto because the countries that dont regulate will have insane advancement in the tech field. Crypto cant be stopped at this point. If the US stopped it theyd lose that arms race to China and Russia

What though?
I mean in what way?
Who are they gonna sue, what taxes can they levy? What servers can they take control of?
They can't stop anything online. From CP to drug sales to ISIS tier public enemies.
Are they gonna make crypto trading illegal?

anyone that outlaws crypto loses access to the tech innovations and therefore no one can outlaw crypto

Maybe not bitcoin but what if they go after ETH or other not so decentralized crypto?
Don't forget they can target exchanges as well making trading crypto more difficult like banning you from withdraw from or deposit to your hardware wallet. Or they could make KYC regulation to the extreme level.

The US doing something completely idiotic does sound quite plausible.

70% tax rate on crypto will dissuade all normies and "legit" investors
