shorts have shares they borrow and naked shorts borrow shares when there are no shares. they're on the hook for the shares if the price rises and they use that same stock they own as collateral. when you're doing a naked short there are no shares available but you short them anyways if the price rises you're on the hook for those shares that you owe and have to buy them to resell to the broker that loaned them to you. this same thing happened to sorrento therapeutics a few months back it was heavily shorted by hindenburg and it ended up shooting to 20 bucks a share because HB had to buy back shares. its still heavily shorted so any news causes it to go up 2-3 dollars. i made about 10k with a 2k investment back in april last year lol also same shit with spce they were shorted to a degree and they started releasing results and they went from 5 to 30 dollars in a week.

also if you buy GME make sure to LIMIT SELL HIGH. why? when shorts need to cover and there are no shares they can purchase limit sell shares at the limit price. causing the stock to pump even further. this is why naked shorting is dangerous and illegal.
