I think one of the main reasons is that crypto (at least bitcoin/eth) is quite mainstream now. Since the march crash stocks have been a good way to earn a lot of money aswell, which means that crypto isn't seen as the only way to get rich quick. Another problem is the eth scaling problems that acts as a barrier for normies to actually start trading alts.

Nope it's was institutional buyers driving up BTC.
In 2018 Alts were going up 100% a day. This is a prelude to things to come. Alt-Season will be insane AFTER retail BTC fomo.
