Worst case: a few hedge funds will take massive losses and maybe even close down. Nobody other than the funds' owners and (highly paid) employees will be affected. Regular people don't invest in hedge funds, institutions like pension funds, insurance companies, and endowments do. The losses might affect them, but it will just be a blip.
