I did an after-hours trade and it didn't go through before the bump. Considering refunding my $209 price it was at last night since it's likely not to go through at this point and rebuying a portion at $150 or so and splitting what's left up for amazon. Melvin Capital will take days to cover their short with a thing called "Days to Cover" or "Short Ratio"
So you can see, even if Melvin Capital wants to cover their shorts, it's gonna take them DAYS, and right now it's gonna take them an entire trading week to cover their position.

So what does that mean for us?

Well, we're just waiting for the day when Melvin Capital starts covering their position. When is that day? VERY FUCKING SOON. They're are bleeding out of their ass with the insane interest rate they're paying for their position, and a lot of puts are expiring on Friday, plus a lot of ITM (in the money) calls expire Friday and can be exercised to get shares.

Friday might be the day where Melvin Capital have no choice BUT to start covering.

Now, IF this happens, then it's not gonna take Melvin Capital 1 hour to cover all their shorts, but DAYS. Meaning if Melvin capital starts covering FRIDAY, it will take them at LEAST 5 DAYS to fully cover, which means ALL of next week, the price will keep increasing and increasing! So if I am a market maker you go through me to short a bunch of stock, I'll go out on the market and buy an equivalent amount of stock to keep my books "neutral". Then I just collect the fees you're paying me to be short. The price fluctuations of the underlying don't matter.

I don't think game stop is ever coming down. Retail investors are buying up. Say if 1 million people buy at $200 or whatever price target. They will continue to hold even after it drops. Retail investors are not algorithms that trade automatically. They will be millenials that know what they got. If the shares they bought was throw away money, why would they need to liquidate? They could hold indefinitely if they really wanted to. There isn't sale limits in place automatically doing trailing sales. Retailers are not that smart. It's not going to be a quick end like Porsche. This is a million people, working, doing errands, different thoughts.

Worst case scenario, it drops to maybe 50-80 which could be a healthy enterprise value of revenue times X. Best case scenario, it remains overpriced $150-$300 like Tesla following no fundamentals. With the only people left holding the trash bags being the shorters.

It has potential to go higher. There seems to be a lot of hype for Godzilla vs Kong, that may drive people's desire to support the theater chain and get in on this to push it further. its unironically an unintended consequence of the Fed's money printer aka "liquidity injections". They pump a bunch of cheap cash into the market and see if inflation rises. If it doesn't rise, they think its safe to keep doing it.

So they just kept pumping $$$ into the economy and thinking it was fine because inflation was low as fuck. Nobody could figure out why.

This week we found out why. That money wasn't going towards improving the economy. Hedge funds were using cheap borrowing rates to short the shit out of retail stores on margin and actively suppressing the economy in doing so (also forcefully bankrupting companies).

Now the bubble HAS popped and all that juicy federal reserve $$$ is going straight into all of the most heavily shorted stocks (in a roundabout sort of way)
