Honestly capital gains in general should be taxed more heavily. It's one thing to invest your property into something you think is going to be a business with social value of some sort. But day trading is kind of a BS way to earn a living, at least in a society with as much economic inequality as ours. Investments aren't socially valuable activities if they just manipulate money by buying and selling over tiny timespans on prediction and meta predictions and meta meta predictions around some general market dynamics. They can't QE their way out of this. The whole reason why its worked without tanking the value of the dollar is because the dollars themselves don't move out of financial institutions and banks. It stays there and gets used as reserve requirements for lending and credit.
GME holders don't want a fucking IOU. They want dollars which would mean printed money entering the general economy in massive amounts and regular ass hyper-inflation.
