I pack a Makarov, use a Zastava M91 innawoods and an AK-74 for general purpose. Ammo is absolutely an investment. Wishing I had more 9x18, but I was focused on snapping up 7n6 for the past half year, got a full crate of it right now. A few hundred x54r as well. Plus 200 .357 for my cowboy gats, 500 .22 magnum, and an indeterminate number of shotshells.

Got plate carrier, NODs (gen 3 PVS-14), and IR laser as well.

If you want to compromise you can get a henry golden boy .22. Things are pretty fun and quite as a mouse.

However i would suggest purchasing a higher caliber for self defense if thats your intention. I would say get a lever action chambered in either 3030 or .44 mag and then invest in a .22lr rough rider.
You can get the rough rider for close to 100$ and they are fun as shit

Hi-points really arent as bad as /k/ memes them out to be. My uncle owns like 8 of them so he can have a gun for every room of his house.
