i personally am a big fan of the air-tite individual capsules. it looks like you have them on the kookabura's. they're fairly cheap, but some people don't mind just leaving them in the factory hermetically sealed vinyl or whatever it is. however they are a pain to keep neat, so i commonly see alout of roundfags go for the tubes that hold however many all stacked up. i'm a barfag, so i just get these. if you have loose coins/bars, an everyday tupperware should work just fine but it's really up to you, just don't leave them out in the open air.

Attending these threads is extremely fucking bitter yet slightly 0.5% sweet. Just two fucking years ago, I had 100 ounces. It was a small fucking collection, but it was my 100 ounces I worked so hard for. Various 5 ounces here and there, junk silver, american eagle coins, a really cool hercules silver coin, a 10 ouncer here and there...all of it fucking obtained over a decent period of time. All from a texas coin shop in Dallas from a guy who was buddy buddy with me and sold me it all just a dollar over each spot. Fucking hell, all of it is gone. I just started collecting again about a month ago, and with my 10 fucking ounces right now it puts a damn hole in my heart that I ever was forced to get rid of my initial 100 ounces. Especially being married now and with a kid and spot + premium trying to fuck me over. Shit fucking sucks. Fucking hell these threads are a reminder of my previous stack. I was so damn proud of it too. The fucking price needs to come down over tax season. I filed my taxes already and I know that the IRS begins working on taxes on the 15th. I was in an extremely bad financial spot back then and had zero help from anyone else other than me at the time. Lost my job from not being able to walk for an entire month straight. Ah but my friend there are some very old lost gold mine and treasure stories from Texas. There have been some very rare massive gold nuggets found scattered across the state, most appearing hosted by quartz veining and which could not have traveled more than a few miles from their sources. There have also been some large gold coin hoards from the time of the mexican and civil wars as well as depression era. A metal detector and some training my produce some luck, and knowing some skills in geology may help you find something as well. Look up the states geology, there are gold mines in the state, start near one of these abandoned mines and start searching, who knows what you might find.

Yes many of the more easy to access places may have been looked over, most were only looked at by tourists not miners.

There's plenty of info available online, if you want a general place to start the Doug Stone books are great (expensive though) and there's ones for each of the major prospecting states.

Government pours a shit ton of money into finding deposits, also check out the state libraries for old maps and the like (pic related).

In terms of general advice on panning/prospecting, you have to be resilient. Try hiring a Minelab SDC from a shop somewhere and head out and have a crack in a common spot, I haven't prospected in qld but from memory there's a few spots near mt isa
