you didn't buy out any of their supply

industrial silver is the paper you guys love to complain about. It's future delivery contracts. They take delivery whenever the contract states.

This idea warrants discussion. I would presume you could barter land for silver, but you would have to pay taxes on it in fiat to the government. You would want it to be good land to live on, build a farm, or have as a hunting property. Timber potential is a huge positive and should be sought out if you can find it. Not recently-timbered or flood zone. Must have road frontage.

All good mate, I've got a few more I don't mind sharing if you want. In terms of getting a website up, why not just do a substack? You can always paywall certain stuff if you don't want it to be super public, and you can share the rest. From what I recall they take a 10% cut off whatever subscribers pay. Either that or just do a site with wordpress or altervista, you can also add paywalls to both if you wanna keep certain stuff more private

the problem is the file sizes and storage. I have currently a dozen SSDs and a few older hard drives full of material but transferring that to an offsite server on local internet would take weeks. The file sizes are massive and dont compress well from experiance. I ve been looking at a few different hosts and places to store the physical data in Vancouver but real life means its on the back burner. There are instructions in my will as well if I do ever fuck up and vanish on one of my trips too.

unironically if you wanted to do this the best option would be to contact local Moron, Mennenite, Hudderites and Jehovah Witnesses, maybe even Doukhobors. They would sell you land under the table as a "gift" in exchange for PMs if you asked. You would still have to pay taxes and register fees for it but it would be totally under the table otherwise.

Yes just this fall I had two different incidents on polar opposite to each other.

First one I was going into my lightning creek claim to go get some work done at the little camp i keep there when i find some jackasses pickup sitting in the middle of my road. I go down to the creek and theres this young guy and his son using one of my wood sluice boxes, digging in the creek bank for gold. Dude freaked out when I called out and started blabbering that he didnt want to cause trouble and they would be out of there in a moment. I let him and his 6 year old boy dig there on the condition they fill in the holes when done, and they could keep the gold too. No point yelling over that sort of shit.

A few weeks later same thing happens but with a different truck and its parked blocking my gate. I go down to the creek and theres a dude setting up his highbanker and a DREDGE in my fucking creek. I yell at him to get over and explain himself. Dude looked super sheepish, but when I politely told him to get lost he flipped out and started accusing me of bullshitting, he wanted to know I owned the claim. So I walked up to the road and unlocked the gate. Than this mother fucker has the nerve to start saying its bullshit he cant have a claim, that he should be allowed to dig where he wants. I took some photos of his trucks plates and his gear, and told him he better fuck off before I got the cops involved. Never saw him again.

If your polite, I ll let you dig, but you mouth off to me or start doing illegal shit on my ground and I catch you there will be consequences.

>> No.27782280

>>27781683
yep, but in the US nobody actually checks that, there's literally no law enforcement branch that oversees it.

so what we do is if I go to your claim and it's marked I can take down your signs and then start working it.

or you can shoot me and then put up signs after the fact

in real life none of that happens, but both are possibilities. Almost no claims here have the required signage, and if you do put up signs the weather and hikers/shooters will take them down in a few days or weeks anyways.

Question for you PM:

>Where I live, there was apparently a baby gold rush in the 1890s.

>It was very brief, and everyone locally thinks it was some kind of joke. I always figured they'd found some pyrites then felt pretty stupid about the whole thing.

>Local legend is that at least the second mine was salted to sell the property. The first mine was never sold as far as I can tell.

>The whole region is just a big pile of glacial till, and the first mine was right on a pile of outwash, but the owner of the farm had dug right into the limestone, which was way pre-glacial. I assumed that if there were even real traces of gold in the area, it would probably be in the outwash plains, but that's 50 miles away. The original mine was right on the glacier's side of the till, on a massive mound. The second was in the thick of the till, about a third of the way from the glacier's side of the till to the outwash plain.

>However, just out of idle curiosity I started reading up on it. A geologist was curious about the whole thing, so he traveled a pretty good distance to check it out. He was skeptical, but left convinced. According to one of two papers I can find, it was a vein of gold-bearing quartz in the first mine. According to the paper, the owner of the first mine had a sample sent off to a lab, and it came back as actual gold. The oz/ton was absurdly high but I don't think that means anything since what he sent in was just a random lump out of the vein.

> I also heard a story from someone I trust completely that was drilling a waterwell in the same glacial till that the drillers grabbed a core that was literally one massive nugget. My friend is a geologist too, and he did every test he knew. It was honest to god gold, but of course it disappeared.

Part 2

>I know for a fact that the area is full of bits of Canadian shield that the glaciers dropped off, and that is full of all kinds of neat rocks. However, again this was claimed to be a vein in limestone that predates the glaciers.

My question is that if the gold bearing vein actually exists, is it likely that the gold extends through the vein? The geological survey didn't do much of a survey, but I know the local geology pretty well, and that limestone is everywhere.

If I had a spare week, where would I start looking to figure out what is going on? I'm a geologist, but I not knowledgeable about prospecting or gold mining. I thought I might do a little panning when I do some dirt work on a river bank this spring.

which state mate, this sounds interesting. I would look on geologic maps for igneous intrusive structures. Quartz veins often grow in tandem with igneous bodies as they work their way up through country rock. It may be exceptionally hard to locate anything though if till is involved, because if you do find a piece of float ore from this vein anywhere you will have no real way to know where that float ore came from. See if you can pin point the original mine location and work from there, go is slow methodical circles around the find and see if anything else will appear. Look for old workings too, they may point you in the right direction.

in california people can get claims for public government land. you are supposed to check online to make sure the area you are going to mine isnt claimed alrady but lots of people dont know or dont bother, they just assume since its public land that they can mine

the dude with the kid was probably just doing it as a hobby to show the kid maybe cause the kid asked. if they didnt even bring out their own equipmet they might have just been hiking or fishing or something and came across your mining stuff and thought what the hell lets try it for an hour. dunno because i wasnt there but from your description it doesnt sound like the dad was particularly out to steal your gold on purpose

the second guy obviously is a fucking miner since he has a dredge and probably knew exactly what he was doing. honestly given the remoteness of the areas when you are mining im surprising you arent strapped. i wouldnt be out there mining alone in the mountain forest without a pistol at least

dude with the kid wanted to teach his son how to mine and just went down the most interesting road he could find. Couldnt hate on that. The other guy on the other hand was a fuckin sniper / claim jumper. I wish I had kept him around and sat phoned for some mates to come help, would have had a free high banker and dredge out of it.

I wouldn't because I'd have no idea where he lives but he knows exactly where to find me.

Limestone is sedimentary, but a quartz vein in it is totally possible. A dike or sill can come through almost anything. The part that I'm skeptical about is that there is an intrusion here.

this anon is correct

but when an igneous intrusion breaks through limestone the surrounding rock is metamorphosed into dolostone.

there are sedimentary or lightly metamorphosed quartz rocks though. Most of them don't contain gold. Usually if they're mineralized they're in a class called jasperoids.
