1: Market cap is derived from price, not the other way around. The coins aren't mined, they're given out to people already in the network, so new supply isn't associated with selling pressure.
2: Even if we fully diluted tomorrow and kept the same price, we'd only be at half of ADA's (an inferior product) current market cap
3: We're not fully diluting tomorrow; if you buy and hold ALGO until the supply drys up, your ALGO should more than double just from staking.

Its because Eth is an old, legacy system. The main thing it has going for it is its userbase/familiarity. The big make it or break it for coins like Algo/Ada etc is whether Etherium's PoS transition works out well for them. If it doesnt work well, You will find it going the way of the Dodo, and that will be Algo's true time to shine. Even if Eth smoothly transitions, Algo will still have its niche (namely its cryptographic strength/security in relation to XLM's). Several other Crypto's spun off of early Eth from its direct lack of security.

If there is anything close to a sure bet on an altcoin making you money long term it is Algo

Im wandering the same thing. As some anon pointed out in another algo thread this coins spikes in price every six months and returns to baseline which is about half its current price. Will it happen this time as well? No idea. We’ll see in march. But keep in mind that the algo foundation wants this to be a stable coin so don‘t expect a moonshot.

>Sold my 69k steak at .96 a couple days back. A bit early based on this latest frenzy (oh well, could have paid the mortgage), but I've been riding ALGO waves for a solid year+. Every 6 months it pumps and dumps like clockwork around the 200M staking program drops... Guess what, the next one is lined up for 2 wks from now:
https://algorand.foundation/faq#200m-staking-program-also-known-sometimes-as-super-staking-rewards-program-
This latest pump will be over in 4-6 weeks and we'll be headed back toward a more reasonable .45 - .65 ALGO over the next 3-6 months.
Historically speaking the token's intrinsic value hovers around .30 - .35, but network effects certainly have improved recently. Don't get too excited about this pump, if you read deeply into the Algo Foundation literature you'll see they have a vested interest in keeping this a comfy stablecoin, which means pumps will be followed by token "printing" and accelerated vesting designed for price target control.
https://algorandfoundation.cdn.prismic.io/algorandfoundation/eb2a8c69-2262-42f8-99a4-09df485207b5_EIP-11252019AF_+Conditional+Accelerated+Vesting+Nov+30.pdf
That said, I'm still on the 10Y timeline for Algo hodl. It's a long-term comfy token.

>I prefer to call it pragmatium. The reason ALGO hasn't ripped as much as GRT is because they've designed it to have a negative feedback loop to reach price homeostasis.
Everyone thinks they're getting 8%, but StakingRewards "adjusted reward" makes it pretty clear that Algo Foundation releases enough tokens to deflate the intrinsic value and keep it at 0%. You might hold more, but they are worth less due to token printing.
https://www.stakingrewards.com/earn/algorand
It's a brilliant system designed to keep capital inflows coming to the Algo Foundation, keep the token appearing "cheap" for n00bs to buy in and build the network (staking thru hodl), but also pitch stability to the suits/SEC/gov'ts.

Some anon posts that explain it better than me.

This is the perfect pump and dump coin then.
We need to make a sell thread since this is my first time holding this coin.
Its a perfect way to build up wealth while waiting for the P & D.
Of course this time it may be a permanent gain above that price but i feel like this will be the last bear market before more than bitcoin is accepted as payment

I know Crypto.com is allowing you to stake their coin and get debit card rewards and im doing that right now but sadly only at the first staking tier.

Yes? Say you have 1 million transactions per second and you can only process 1000 (I am being generous), how do you determine which one you process first? You take the one paying the most fees of course. Thus the fees increase.

Satoshi literally created Bitcoin to compete with Visa. But Blockstream decided to cripple it with small blocks. As long as there are no block size limits, fees will stay as low as 1/20 of a cent. Blockchains are designed to scale better than previous payment systems.

Nice trips. Imo Algorand is a way better tech than Cardano. I wouldn't listen to all the fuders, that want to accumulate. Nobody as of now provided evidence, that Algorand foundation wants to drive Algo's price artificially down. Making Algo coin into a sort of stable coin is just a nonsense. Algorand is handling stable coins on it's platform. So there is no point in suppressing Algo's price itself. It would actually be better to drive price higher, so that it can be considered a blue chip. It would drive more developers, and users to this platform. I shouldn't be shilling it, as I still need 6 more days to end my stake of another coin, and get from 105k Algo to 200k+.
