In the 2008 crash gold went like 5x while housing dipped. People that lost on real estate but held gold did OK. Same thing basically during the 70s stagflation, except gold was basically like bitcoin pulling 100x back then.

They never tell you that the dollar will be one of the last to hyperinflate. The U.S. dollar was involved in nearly 90% of all foreign exchange trades last year. It’s not just countries, but foreign companies and institutions also rely on the dollar. Without access to the currency, these players would be unable to re-fund debts or take out new loans.

Ironically, this enables the Fed to pretty much expand the money supply (and U.S. lawmakers the debt) as far as the eye can see. The substantial amount of underlying demand means there will always be a need for U.S. dollars and debt. The creative programs implemented by the Federal Reserve, such as the repo agreements on treasuries, also incentive ongoing demand for U.S. debt. And while the Fed’s expanded lines certainly expand its reach compared to any other time in history but it remains to be seen of the FED can meet demand. And as other currencies hyperinflate, they move to the dollar and hard assets.

Your stupid read what happens when shit hits the fan. People trade vodka for ramen, or socks for pencils. They trade whatever they got for something useful. >> No.29651756

>>29651287
I don't know much about this subject, but as you say it is way more complicated than "print money = hyperinflation". If the US can keep the expanded money supply outside of the US, there wont be HI within the US. Hence why so much of the stimulus packages go overseas, and why there is such opposition to general handouts within the US from the senate, etc.

>> No.29652394

>>29651756
Yep. Hyperinflation means the money supply has gone up WITH increased velocity which drives prices sky high. Prices in America are going up because costs to produce and transport goods are higher thanks to the lockdown restrictions globally. Americans have more savings only because of two things
>Spending less
>Stimmies
When velocity goes back up the American savings will go back down. The FED printing does not go directly into the economy. It increases bank reserves so banks can loan out more money. Only then does the money get into circulation.

>shiny rocks

This is the most damaging boomer meme you can fall for.
I bought silver and gold in 2012 instead of buying Bitcoin. Would have been a fucking millionaire now but instead I'm stuck with useless rocks.

The most annoying thing is when the fiat system busts they'll parade and "I told you so", ignoring that they were wrong for decades and missed 10 bullruns in different sectors.

>> No.29652922

Goldbugs never tell you this though.
I can see the use for wealth preservation fair enough, but unless you've already made it then boomer rocks are a complete waste of time and money.

>> No.29653238

>>29652922
A lot of goldbugs are basically in a doomsday cult. I have a friend who turned into one and it's hard to talk to him now. I'm pretty open to conspiracies and things not being what they seem but he is half a step away from David Icke lizardman tier. Of course they're always smug too because they think they've got everything figured out.

>> No.29653268

>>29652922
Personally, I stack little silver and gold to preserve the small amount of "wealth" I have since it's too little for things like real estate and I'm just not confident with stocks and crypto (yet).
And my money is just sitting there at the bank while inflation slowly eats it away and an risky economic situation make me feel uncomfortable about fiat currencies. So I buy a bit of silver every now and then.
And if we do get to "triple digit silver", that will be an added bonus.
