almost everyone on biz is low IQ
at least everyone who doesn't own AVAX
avax is the future of payment, defi, nft and so on
all it takes is 5 min on research yet biz is to dump to do that
but I guess you have not bee low IQ to understand that

>inbound muh double spend
first of all it wasn't a double spend but a double mint
its was a minor bug in the user interface (not consensus engine!)

apparently it will be able to do "thousands" after the april update. -and later 100k with eth 2.0
>is eth a pos chain?
doesn't really mater probably. -the problem with PoW is transaction fees, but if you solve that without PoS, I don't really see that as a value in itself
>does eth have sub second finality?
>can eth deploy multiple blockchains?
not sure about these. what value do they add?

avax can do it now on L1, no L2 needed
pow is not green tech, which matters to some
there's also the decentralization aspect
I'm not even an eth hater, this is purely from a tech perspective. eth won't get to where avax is now ever.
also what value does sub second finality add to finance systems? really anon?

>> No.29921648

>>29920809
Can you explain why PoS is less centralized? To me it's still an unproven model so whatever benefits like low energy cost and tx speed you get from it might not be enough sustain the network in the long term.
PoW is what actually made blockchain revolutionary and has proven to be working long term. PoS could have been implemented already before BTC was invented, but for some reason it wasn't.
I'm not an eth lover either. I'm looking for an entry in AVAX and just trying to understand what makes it so special.

>Optimistic roll-up transaction finality: 1-2 weeks
>ZK Roll-up transaction finality: 20 minutes, potentially reducing to sub-60 seconds

meanwhile Avalanche is sub-second without this mess of having to use side-chains.

> PoS could have been implemented already before BTC

No, because the concept of hashes of public addresses having any value wasnt evident. There needs to be a stake for stake to work. If you give people in 2008 ALGO or ADA and tell them look, they would consider it quite useless and attack it for fun.

PoS only works if people value what is at stake.

As soon as $ADA $ALGO $ETH2 reach 1 cent price in dollar-value the cost of attacking it is also 1 cent.

To attack bitcoin even when its valued at 1 cent you would still need to expend energy, electricity cost to also be 1 cent.

PoS could not have been launched in 2009, the cost to attack it would have been nothing for an attacker, the cost to attack bitcoin was higher than the price of bitcoin.

And with this lesson my young padawans, the above is only true for $ADA $ETH2 $ALGO. The exception is AVAX. Ill let you figure it out as an exercise for the reader.

>> No.29922565

>>29921648
Your right to be skeptical, PoS is new, and PoW is proven tech. PoW tends to favor centeralization because mining inherently is more profitable at scale. Think of the enormous capital costs required to compete with miners in china who operate next to a dam. The fact is, mining favors companies that scale and can invest large sums of capital. With proof of stake, one can reduce the amount of capital required to be a validator in the network, thus enabling people with less capital to validate the network. Hope that helps.

You can mine ETH profitably with 3 gens old GPU, I wouldn't say the barrier of entry is that big.
With PoS, what stops some whales buying most of the tokens early on and centralize its distribution? Releasing them to the market in phases?
PoW also gives incentive to make a longg term investment - mining hardware, prepare the room, internet etc. If the market goes badly, you still continue if it's barely profitable. With PoS you can enter and exit at any time leaving the network more vulnerable to market downside.

>> No.29925089

I stopped buying avax because zero is a confirmed rug. Their code let's then mint as many zero tokens and they want and drain the market. Multiple rug accounts on twitter verify this. The code itself verifies this. So when they do the ultimate 3 chain rug, I'll buy the dip.
