I asked a couple threads ago but I didn't get an answer. I'm looking to buy a solid sterling silver zippo I see the companies website has them for sale but they don't explicitly say if they're plated or solid. I work with a guy who collects zippos and he says everyone he's seen is plated. I've emailed zippo asking directly haven't got a response yet. Anyone have any insight?

The normal trend seems to be 10% of your net worth should be in precious metals, in case shit hits the fan you always have something real and historically sound to fall back on.

People here have anywhere from 1% to 100% of their net worth in precious metals, and opinions ranging from "We're in a nice bull market" to "The entire financial system will collapse and we'll be buying blowjobs from desperate women trying to make ends meet with mercury dimes".

Having some cash or something that can be easily liquidated is a good idea always but you want your money working for you. Right now if you believe we're in a PM bull market, is a great time to buy since many miners are going through a correction phase. I've been accumulating, even though I haven't nailed the bottom even once.

You know that they have to melt the 1000oz bars down and make them into the peasant denominations and styles then warehouse, market, and shit them while paying all the overhead of their business right? Spot price is always lower than retail. Spot price is huge bars from the big foundries. A single silver future contract is 5,000oz. It’s deliverable in only five one thousand ounce bars. The price is determined by the average of a minimum of 25 contracts traded so as far as the “””market””” is concerned 125,000 (one hundred twenty five thousand) ounces is the smallest size silver transaction of consequence.

People do not understand how large the silver market is, they cannot grasp the volumes of things traded by big boys. A single futures contract for silver is more silver than anyone here probably owns and it’s literally nothing in the grand scheme of things. I bet the entire holdings of this board are traded pin a fraction of a second ever day in the silver market.

People say it’s not there. It is.

You wanna test them? Buy a silver future. Not the mini cause those settle to cash. Buy a real deal /SI and take delivery. See what happens. Hope you have the 130,000 in cash to settle it cause they sure as shit have the metal to give you.

Is there really any benefit of buying coins from government mints? I don't see how being from the government makes them inherently more valuable.

The way to see through your lies is pretty simple

all your explanations for silver markets are ex post facto.

if silver crabs or goes down the jews gave you cheapies
if silver goes up the jews lost control of their scheme

none of this lets you predict the price of silver simply because it's not true. You attribute stochastic market behaviors to a single sinister force you don't have access to or understand. You might as well say "Thor did it."

There are a host of factors that should push the price up including silver depletion from the earth's crust, high bullion demand yet no spot price movement despite low stock to flow ratio, etc. USdebtclock paper and dollar ratio to gold and silver is the most clear evidence of manipulation there is

Not really, and you'd be wrong to think everyone here in /pmg/ stacks for the same reasons. I personally see massive inflation potentially happening, so a pm with practical use isn't a bad thing to hold. Worst comes to worse, I sell it at a peak in a few decades or just hand it down to children. Doesnt necessarily imply distrust in the government, though many would disagree with me here.

I was very young but I did go through a period of hyperinflation as a child so I remember a few things, and having studied those times superficially a few things happened:

The economy chugged along, but the government capped prices of common goods like food to prevent retailers from taking advantage of desperate people. If you're from the southern states, this type of policy usually comes into effect during hurricanes in relation to essential items like food & gasoline. It also imposed quantity limits so people couldn't buy the entire stock due to supply shortages. Again, similar to the early Covid days. I assume most Americans aren't used to these policies long term but they were in effect for 5-6 years where I'm from. Inflation rates were published twice a day so goods had to be re-priced to match.

It was so long ago that the concept of online brokerage accounts wasn't invented or popularized yet, so I can't say what happened to the stock market. I can say that people basically had no savings because saving money was useless. The ones who did have some savings fell to an attempt to control inflation by freezing monetary assets, so you could only get a fixed amount of money out of the bank per month, that the government specified and thought would be enough to survive on, and that was it. While that worked temporarily, people found ways to circumvent this and inflation picked back up violently. Those with savings they couldn't access lost it all.

Those memories are why I converted so much of my savings and NW into PM at the end of last year. The more I see the current situation we're in the more parallels I can draw and the more worried I become.

I think 2oz of Gold might be a good start but I would at least get 200oz of silver.

3oz of silver gets you a month of housing, food and necessities in Venezuela.

Yes. Silver coins dates 64 or older were .90 pure silver. They tend to carry low premiums compared to other silver types, but that trend seems to be changing recently. Monument metals has around 23x face value for mixed bags and unless you get lucky, you might not do better than that.

DESU I think SGB is having actual silver shortages.

I recently placed 2 silver orders and one gold order.

The gold order processed and shipped before the silver orders, even though it was placed last. There's no way it can be a simple order-overload. I suspect SGB must be more "flexible" about what they call "in stock." Actually the gold was delivered before either silver order has shipped.

Having said that I'm not worried at all, and I don't think you should be either. The world hasn't run out of silver just yet.

>The latest case of regulatory indolence was recently exposed by Andrew Maguire, a successful metals trader and whistleblower who went to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission with data that strongly suggested that a small number of criminal short sellers had rigged the markets for silver and gold. Maguire not only provided the regulators with a Dummies’ guide to how the manipulation generally worked, but also warned them of a specific crime – a dramatic take-down of the gold and silver markets – that he said would occur at an exact time on a specific date in the near future. That is, Maguire told the regulators that a massive crime was about to happen, and the crime happened precisely as he predicted it would.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Maguire_(whistleblower)

The problem is that he market is nearly impossible to proactively monitor anymore. High frequency trading makes it very very difficult to actually see wrongdoing. If it it took a whistleblower to out them on this a decade ago, and it took them years to actually fine JPM for manipulating the market:

https://www.cftc.gov/PressRoom/PressReleases/8260-20

I cant recommend this interview highly enough it answers a lot of questions and dismisses many myths/misrepresented facts:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShZrgZEq1Yo

They might not be doing it anymore... But if they got outted in 2010 and continued doing it for 6 more years theyre not exactly shy about their behavior. In the interview Bart Chilton mentions that only 25% of the cases they brought to the feds for criminal prosecution (jailtime) were acted on. If you can make billions and only pay a fine of a billion and face no jailtime... What's stopping you?

yes, the other alternative is they're still doing it and they just haven't been charged yet because feds are building their case.

a whistleblower alone won't stand up in court though. So the feds must've found a way to spot the spoofing independent of the whistleblower.

yeah. things have been shitty re: inflation, but I'm eating well on a budget. picking up grassfed venison/bison/lamb, whatever is on sale, for about $7/lb. lots of veggies too. just load up the dutch oven with veggies, bake it, and it feeds me for 2 days. probably about $5 a meal all told, good food too.

next step is to get my roommate's head out of his ass. the fucking idiot keeps the house at 70F constantly and can't be arsed to clean up for 5 minutes before sinking into the eternal slumber of everlasting peace in front of the TV for 6+ hours at a time.

I also hopped on the tinder and have been giving girls weird psychological tests, like
>there's a box of 3 bijoux, and you can only pick one. do you pick: a ring of red gold, a flawless diamond, or an orb that lets you speak to the dead?
needless to say they all fail or unmatch (same as failing). you're lucky to have a wife. all I have are a couple teases trying to extract attention, and an endless sea of tattooed pigs with bad attitudes.

i wish the dip meant something. no one is selling the dip. no one. local shops sold out or still asking $35+. part of buying into the conspiracies that say "silver spot isn't accurate and that silver is worth $50/oz+" mean also accepting that the market isn't going to sell you silver based on spot, even at high premiums. it's a made up number whether it benefits you or not.

Dollar is on the low end of its range and indicates a strong bottom with rates rising. Hopefully it will dip this week (hopefully) cause I’m long 30,000 GBP for a swing.

Rest of the year (at least) will be rising dollar.

A good hardy stew is my favorite thing to make I love me some carrots onions and tatters with some beef. It will last us a few days as well. We stopped eating out as much and cook at home saving so much money. Same with the brewing lol fuck going out to bars thats where I work lol. I lucked out desu lol we knew each other for like 3 years then started dating. We met in the medical weed game out in CA though. She had a successful edible business making edibles from her sisters grow (my biggest competition at the local shows lol) so I knew she was smart and not just some weed thot. Go to some farmers markets and find you a good girl that will apricate what you can bring to the table. Don't look in the conventional places like panning lol.

A good scale should be ez to get at any smoke shop out there for under $20. That would be a huge stack booster post collapse if you got meds that work and are already sorted.
