What is the average salary for college graduates?
Recent college graduates still make about the same amount of money they have for the last several years despite tighter and more competitive markets. While there are a few outliers, the general average salary for college graduates comes to about $50,000 according to a recent National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) salary survey. Those who majored in computer science, engineering, mathematics, health sciences and business were the highest earners, with salaries ranging from $52,000 to $71,000.

It is soulless, mind breaking work. If not for my adderall prescription I already would've walked (which people have).

I actually have a large amount of seniority for only being around 3 years.

The turnover is terrible and the company lies about it's quality. Pack-outs don't give a shit about quality after audit time. Everyone knows it, including them. If a quota is to be met, fuck quality.

I’ve never lived in a big city, as far as I can tell the biggest difference in cost of living between small towns and large cities is the cost of housing/rent.

Is this correct? You can rent a two bedroom apartment in Nebraska for like 650-800 dollars a month, what does that cost in, say, Dallas? Oklahoma City? LA?

What other COL differences are there? Does food cost a lot more? Because people saying 50k in Nebraska is equivalent to 100k in a city seem to be exaggerating. Are you speaking strictly about LA/SF/NYC?

Random factory grunts in Nebraska don’t make 55k, they make 14-18 dollars an hour. A fresh out of college engineer earns 55-60k here.

Find a trade you're interested in and look up the union for the trade in your area. For instance, I'm a ceiling guy up in the NW Carpenters union. I build and install the acoustical tile/grid systems you see in a lot of commercial buildings and do some cool custom wood ceilings on occasion. Look into insurance companies, specifically underwriting jobs. Theres a ton of entry level jobs in insurance that don't require any skills beyond a college degree of any major. Some of my coworkers studied business but others were humanities/social science majors.

I'll be honest, you probably won't get rich, but you can easily start making $100K within 5 years if you work hard/take industry courses which most companies will pay for. Some of my co-workers do make over $200K too and started out with entry level and no actual skills. If you're as retarded as I am this is your best bet

I make 180k TC in Boston with 1500 rent + 500 utilities/internet etc, so 24000 a year. 180k * .7 (taxes) is 125k

I would need to make 100k in a rural area and not pay any rent, utilities, or taxes to get the same take home.

commercial hvac, 100k a year and they put 10 an hour into your 401k per hour worked, plus pension. Kinda sucks but better than a majority of jobs. Best job in the world is actually chicago fire department, literally work less than 40 a week after accounting time off and only drive to work a few times a day, and have 2/3rds of the year off while making 100k
