well the answer is yes and no
since NFTs are blockchain objects, they can be used by smartcontracts fully on chain and thus, not requiring chainlink
But, if you want to build NFTs with randomized assets, then you would use chainlink VRF to do so
Also, if you want the price of an NFT in USD while still inside a smartcontract, you would use chainlink price oracles to calculate said NFT's value

Basically you need link when you want off chain data in your smart contract.

Well NFT's are just another standard for crypto tokens, they are minted by deploying smartonctracts on the blockchain.
The real value resides in smartcontracts, wether they are used for NFTs, crypto assets, Insurance or whatever use case one can imagine.
One of the greatest statements most forgotten these days is on /biz/:
"smartcontracts change business at the DNA level".
Every business dealing with smartcontracts in the future will be relying on some offchain input or output. (while you can easily imagine weather data or an asset price as a data input for a smartcontract, you can also imagine outputs as a paypal payment, bank transfer or anything possibly made using a webrequest)
Sergey has shown us that he is doing everything possible to corner the blockchain/smartcontracts space and force it to use chainlink for its offchain data and interaction.
He has been doing a wonderful job for the past 4 years and we can easily imagine he will continue doing so as his and his company's evolution since the "two man team" fud is really amazing.

The best thing about chainlink is either you understand what it does and you're all in, or you fall for the memes and end up holding ADA as your main folio token.
